From a friend of mine (keep in mind, she's a girl):


Long story short, my friends and I were at Tantra for someone's birhtday. A fight broke out between a bus boy and a couple of the people in our group over a racial comment that was made towards one of us - I believe the words were "white power" - who says shit like that? They were quickly escorted out.

What should have been over WASN'T. The bus boy came back in and punched Briana in the stomach when the last of us were walking out. Kevin pushed him up against the wall to ask him what the hell he thought he was doing. He started swinging at Kevin, so he tried to direct him to the groud.

This is where it gets messed up - on his way down, the bus boy grabs me by the shirt and pulls me to the floor with him. Not only had I been pulled into something I wasn't involved in at all, but this little shit decides to start punching me IN THE FACE/HEAD!!! I can't beleive it either. I punched back as much as possible to get him off of me. FINALLY more bouncers showed up - but only to haul us out and dismiss what happened.

The manager didn't do a thing! After saying that he would talk to us outside, he walked right back in the building. Despite the fact that one of his staff members had assaulted a girl for no reason at all.

To make things worse, the dumb bouncers let this kid outside where I had to pull Kevin behind me to sto phim from jumping on this guy he just saw beat me in the face. He called Kevin an Arabian - what a tool. If you're gonna be racist, at least get it right.

The moral of the story is...... DON"T GO TO TANTRA and tell all of your friends not to. The best and likely only way to stop this from happening again is not to give them the opportunity.

i find the staff at bars like me? i never have problems with them, even the last 2 times i got in fights they didnt kick me out, just the other guys hahaa.. but it really is because of race, ima big white guy, never EVER get hassled, unless i go with my asain freinds to roadhouse.

^^ Thats because its a lot harder for patients to make up stories than it is for a group of drunks that got kicked out of the club. I'm brown, and I've faced more than my fair share of racism. But nowadays it seems everyone plays the race card the instant something doesnt go their way.

Cops wouldnt of done nothing. If tantra was to be sued they would just say that they(the OPs friends) were all drunk. In other words they wouldnt stand a chance.


OP, tell us what really happened! Ive worked at the bar and have never seen a bus boy or bartender bitching at customers for no reason. Explain what really happened.

Tantra is one of the LEAST racist bars in Calgary...I don't know what you youngins are talking about...they even have a few asians working there including an asian dude who bartends whose arm is like twice the size of my thigh...I'm sure if there was a white supremesist bus boy there he would've snapped his neck a long time ago

What happened here is probably missing a bunch of the story. As much as a bus boy shouldn't be going around hitting girls, I'm sure it was provoked and maybe even deserved. I never really liked Tantra, well there's a lot of clubs in Calgary I don't like too much.

If people want the least racist club in Calgary come to Whiskey. Thursday nights (ladies night) are 18+, Friday nights with Vibe are either 18 or 25+ (it's at the manager's discrestion) and Saturday nights are always 25+ There's no discrimination unless you're dressed/acting like a total asshole.
