well first little race sort of, and i lost. ahaha.
well it was going up shaganappi. started at the lights at the bottom of that hill. we're both lined up. turns green we're off both have good launches, both tied. 2nd gear im at 80, he's a little bit in front of me. when he hit 3rd gear he was OFF! it was done when i got into 3rd. i backed off.

went to turn onto country hills, while he was still at the lights going into citadel i was going to wave or something but he wasnt looking so yea. we also had 4 ppl in the car. me my sis my bro and my dad. but i dont think that would've made a difference. o well i got my ass handed to me.

it was a red camaro, dual tip exhaust. black top. white guy, donno if that helps but if you're on here nice little run.

Trim, a.k.a. version of the car, like Z28, SS, regular. An SS would stomp all over a lot of our cars.

SS and Z28 have very little difference...
Assuming they're both the V8 models.. As soon as you hit V8, you're talking either an LT1 or an LS1 - if it's model year is 1993+....
Long story short, same engine in both trims... horsepower difference of less than 10.... Main differences are in options and suspension...
LS1 (1998+) in both models put over 300hp to the wheels...

Yeah.. that'd be the SS ;-)
however, the difference between a WS6 transam and a regular transam is just the forced induction - which only comes into play at over 100mph...
Until then, same horsepower ;-)
In fact, the V8's in the firebird line and the camaro line are all the same, all with similar numbers.. the trim just changes the options and a little suspension...

any idea what year it was? this might help ya..

if it had the round kinda sebring looking headlights and amber in the tailights it was a 98 and up

since it was red and had dual round exhaust, i wonder... did u notice if it had 2 white/grey checkered racing stripes going down the hood? if so it was the 35th anniversary.. (if it was infact the 98+ apperance)

If it had a hood scoop, more than likely it was an SS, if it was a 98+ SS it has an LS1 engine and 315hp i believe

If it looked like my car than it was a 93-97 and was probly a Z28 which has an LT1 engine with something around 270hp

if it looked like mine with a hood scoop and amber in the tailights it was a 97 SS (hard to come by) they have almost 290hp as a guestimate..

dont get too choked that you got beat by a camaro.. happens to the best of us, the import world has been living with this sad fact for decades.. :D hehe jk

Without passengers, you would have been ahead up until he hit 3rd gear.

If I make some assumptions, say sis is 125 lbs, bro is 165 lbs and dad is 180 lbs, then you would have saved 470 lbs! That's a HUGE amount of weight when you're racing or not, or easily more than 10% of the weight of your car.

2001 camaro z28 has 315 hp
camaro ss has 325 hp
35th ann. has 345hp

the ta is the same engine but it is faster by 0.02sec and it is heavier....the companys dont really know why it is faster but i am guessing it is becaus of the hood

yup, those HP #'s sound pretty close, my #'s were taken off the top of my head, pretty close id say

and i think the trans am is slightly faster only at high speeds, i think it has alot to do with the aerodynamics of the car, plus the ram air intake on the hood is two and a half times larger than that of the SS... IMO the WS6 is one of the nicest/ most aggressive looking automobiles (for the price range) to come out of the factory...

I agree, even at 100lb there should start to be a difference and if you have ur family probablly at least 350lbs then I must say that would of make a difference.

LS1 (1998+) in both models put over 300hp to the wheels...
:bullshit:

No offense but that is entirely untrue. The SS/Firehawk/Trans Am model (4th and 5th gen F-Body) were rated at 305-325bhp at the crank not the wheels. That's about 244-265RWHP

This magical 300RWHP (stock) F-Body you speak of is very interesting. Were the results attained from a G-Tech Pro performance meter while accellerating downhill? Maybe the dyno used is located in a secret under-water garage where the air is thick and cold:dunno:

Some rough numbers I've seen are ~15% for FR, and ~12% loss for MR/FF. So you likely put down about 80HP....yay for MR
