Instead of getting a used car for 6-8 grand I'm thinking about just putting the money down on a brand new car or truck. What are some good cars the I can get brand new for under 20G?? I've been looking at the Ford Ranger.

Volkswagen has three models: Beetle, Rabbit, and Jetta, I believe, all starting under $20k. Something called the "City Golf" too, if I remember the ad.

I think a few Hondas are under $20k to start too.

I just bought a Nissan Versa. Came to $21000 out the door, and I'm really pleased with it so far. comes with a nice 6 speed tranny or CVT too, which is nice. :)

Check out the Honda Fit, Nissan Versa, Chevy Cobalt, Kia Rio, Hyundai Accent, Toyota Yaris...

I drive a Ford Ranger right now, got it for 2 more months, Personaly inless you plan on useing the bed in it alot, dont buy one, they are good on gas for a truck, but not compared to a car. The gas prices right now cost $80 a tank and dont last long doing city driving. only 2 seats... blah blah blah, look at cars, better bang for your buck
