I want to get my new downpipe ceramic coated. My current downpipe is ceramic coated and uses a ball joint (doughnut) instead of a flex pipe, the new downpipe uses a flex pipe. How is the flex pipe treated? Do they coat up to it and start again after or do they coat over it? I would think the ceramic would crack if it was coated over and may effect the ceramic on the tubing.

What do most people do about holding in heat at a flex pipe? The downpipe sits very close to my shifter cables so I want to keep the temperature down as much as possible. Is it possible to header wrap over the flex?

Any suggestions or pictures of what the ceramic or header wrap should look like at the flex pipe?

Thanks

from my experience.. lol fieros have shifter cables too

the most damaging heat is radiated... so covering the
shifter cables with some kind of wrap will help just as
much as covering the pipes with the coating...
Header wrap can easily be made into a sleeve with
stainless fishing line to "sew" the edges together.

I wrapped everything with header wrap... it looks like
crap lol but I'm not sure I'm finished yet:rolleyes:

Ive seen some flex pipes crack the coatings. Since the
flex pipes are usually stainless they don't radiate heat as
fast as mild steel. You may be able to make a stainless
shield for the flex pipe.
