Anyone know much about these? I'm looking at the 01-02 models with the 315 bhp M3 engine in it, coupe or roadster doesn't matter.

Wondering if I can get into one of these for half the price of my NSX, get out of debt, and mod it up.

Just a feeler, really. I'm not thinking about selling the NSX, but if I can find a clean M, I just might consider it.

They are awesome car! and I still love the look for the original M Roadster .. . ( M Coupe, I dont mind it, but most people found them ulgy ... )

Those M Roadster are way quicker then a Stock NSX, (even the 240HP M Roadster is quicker then Stock NSX ) however, that 320HP engine may be a bit too much for the chassis, you may need some mod on the chassis/suspension.

They are lots of fun to drive, very different to NSX .. NSX is very easy to drive, well balanced car, those M Roadster are more like early 911, lots of fun, and need more skill to control them.

However, they are not cheap .. not talking about less then an Early NSX, they are actually more pricier then early NSX model!
this is the only one I have found for sell : http://listings.boostmotorgroup.com/Details.aspx?InventoryID=142622&DealershipID=494&PageSize=20&ParentCompanyID=0&DealerGroupID=0&MediaID=36&onSpecial=0&Wholesale=0&Demo=0&lang=en&isLogo=1&origin=0&CustomLogo=0&IsSpecial=0&IsDemo=0&IsWholesale=0&NotDemo=0&IsNew=0&VehicleTypeID=0&RowNumber=8

Or you can find one from state, like what you did for your NSX .. probably ~20% less then buying in Canada.

Trust me, they are more fun to drive then NSX! and they are rare too!

Yeah, it would be an American car for sure.

I've found the 315 hp model for mid 20s. And it's American built, so no duty either!

Wow that's sweet! I would keep the NSX if I were you but not for the power and handling...I just think that gen of the M Coupe is...well there's only one word for it: Fugly.
Even the new M coupes I don't like much, your NSX is MUCH MUCH hotter, I would NEVER take a second look at an M coupe, but I might just be a stalker and follow your NSX around if i am ever in E-Town and I see it.

Ryan,

the coupes have a problem with the subframe cracking. There is a fix, so if you get one make sure this has been done. My friend is also looking at importing one from the US. The coupe is a pretty unique car, very different from the NSX.

I would keep the NSX, but getting out of debt would make you enjoy the BMW that much more!

like CSMRX7 stated, the subframe is the biggest issue. I think its at least $2.5k to get it re-inforced (if already done) but something like 5k here in calgary as only one shop is willing and able to do it.

also, the s54 m coupe is a rare rare breed, even more so than your nsx. i believe there was something like 300 models brought to north america.

as for fugly, hell yea its fugly but thats the best part. its so damn fugly thats its hawt.

whether or not you should sell your nsx for it is your call, i would say drive it first to make sure you like it and then decide. but if you found one for mid 20's and in good condition that sounds like a GREAT find if its an s54.

There was actually 690 s54 coupes brought to NA.

I don't think the M Coupe is fugly at all :dunno: I think I would choose it over the NSX

That is why .. I suggest the M Roadster over the M Coupe ..

The M Coupe .. is .. you either like it.. or hate it !

Also, nothing can beat driving a roadster in the summer!

I had a 99 M Roadster before, when I was still in Edmonton in 2001. I did try few NSX, Supra, 964 etc those $50K range car, and I picked the M Roadster! even with just 240HP .. it was fast enough, and I love the look of it a lots! The 315HP version is even nicer! (but $75K for one back then!!)

I still think the NSX is better looking for sure!! and after so many year, even early NSX still in the high $30G range!

I like the look of the Coupe, so that is no factor. And it'll fit a hockey bag and two pairs of skis in it too.

Now, I just gotta find one. The more I've though about it, the more the S54 doesn't matter, and the less I spend on the car, the more I can spend modding it after getting out of debt.

God damn that's a nice car! I like the NSX, but if you're in debt and getting the M will help you out then it's completely worth it since they're damn nice cars too. I think Coupe>Roadster in looks though, the Roadster seems kind of chick-ish. That black one

Really? My GF knows nothing about cars and that's how I wanna keep it:

"Hey what are those $3000 pieces of metal you're buying"
"Oh baby those are new rims, it's like an oil change, you GOTTA buy those!!!"

But I guess the chicks who want to be with you because you drive an M don't really care how much money you put down on rims anyways hey...

C4S

yeah .. probably more girls know "M" then "NSX" ....

I think most girls agree NSX is a nice looking car, but they dont know what special is it!! :dunno:

And for Performance ..

early M Roadster do 0-60mph in 5.2 second ..

early NSX do 0-60mph in 5.6 second ..

01 and up M Roadster do 0-60mph in 4.6 second ..

late NSX do 0-60mph in 5.0 second ....

We are not talking big diff here .. the higher speed you go, NSX will get closer to the M .. :)

haha that shoe that you posted is the one i was going to find and post to inspire you.... cuz srsly thats fucking hawt

as for girls.
They will have NO idea what the hell an M coupe it. They may or may not know what an nsx is.

but for the matter of impressing girls BMW > Acura

girls that know nothing are impressed by 318Ti's. haha

Sorry, but I don't buy cars to impress girls.

Not part of the equation.

I was fortunate enough to drive RCTS' supercharged M roadster to and from DTP. Made me consider buying a BMW. It's a fun car to drive, that's for sure. I say go for the M roadster.

Roadster wont' fit a hockey bag though, AFAIK. I'm going to BMW on the weekend to see if they have any that I could try out.

This one's in Toronto. I was quoted $1,105 door-to-door Mississauga to Calgary by Hansen's last week on another car.
