the accident was at a intersection on 37th street and 17th ave s.w, my friend who was driving a white mercury was at the light to turn left and the light went read and a old woman in a gold toyota ran the light and smashed right into my friends car. the date and time of the accident was on june 7th 2007 and approximately at 2:15pm. any information would be great, hes being charged unless he can be proven wrong.

and the car after the accident

AFAIK, even if the light is red, its still his fault

Actually I am pretty sure (unless there is an advanced arrow), its always the fault of the person turning...

It would actually be classified as "both at fault". I got charged that once because i skidded through the stop line at a "t" intersection", into a flat bed tractor trailer, and the truck driver got charged because he was over the center line when turning.

The only thing you can try and fight is to have the old lady charged to. And good luck with that.

Unless you can prove that the old lady ran a red light, by either providing witnesses or that she was issued a ticket for running a red light, then your friend will be 100% at fault for a collision while making an unsafe left hand turn.
