My friend hit a BMW M5 in the rear (bumper). The car is fairly new and there minimal damage (only to the coating) - such as minor marks but no crack or anything. Any ideas in how much this would cost to repair? - if paid in cash. Basically what the worst that can happen?

Could be a couple grand, easily more. Those bumpers bounce back pretty quick, and the outside doesn't show all the cracking that happened to the shock absorbing materials underneath. If he's crunched any of that, be prepared to be eating KD for a loooooonnnng time! Not the name brand KD though, the crappy ripoff stuff ;)

Why ask here ? take it to the body shop!

It is a $140,000 car .. doesn't matter for him to get a new bumper or what! :dunno:

Take it to Maranalle .. they are specialist on BMW .. PORSCHE .. FERRARI etc..

No.... not really. They're filmsy little film canister looking things that plug into the bumper. In a rear ender, they should just pop backwards and dangle by the cable.
