do it in winter, so that you dont have to drive the speed limit and when they ask you to parallel park just say
"how do you know if im hitting the curb or packed snow"
my instructor shrugged his shoulders and said, "yea, your right, thats fine just pull ahead"

I have a better idea.

Learn to parallel park.

You should still learn to parallel park, but one option is to park like 3ft from the curb so there is no way you'll hit, take then 10 demertis for parking to far away, and move on.

get them to buy the lexus that parallel for you and use that for your road test! haha

Its hard, I practiced parallell parking before my test and did it fine 20 times but under pressure I couldn't park without hitting the curb or adjusting to many times. I don't recall if parking to far from the curb was a fail or just marks off your score.

You realize you only have to be within 50 cm of the curb to be legally parked? Don't have to try to get so close. Take out your measuring tape and see for yourself how much room that is.

Besides, if you feel you're going to hit the curb, you are allowed to pull ahead and try again.

It's pretty freaking easy. I do it every day when I get home!

I think your only allowed to pull ahead or adjust the car three times then you fail if I remember correctly....

That's a good number. If by the third try you still can't get it, might as well move on; its just not gonna happen.

Congrats

When I did mine, there's a yield sign when leaving the place so I slowed down and then just went through even though there were cars coming. lol I cut some car off and the guy freaked and pressed on the brakes and grabbed the wheel. We ended up hitting the curb, I passed with 97% :bigpimp: bawwwlin.

Congrats!

I have been on gld for 4 years now, and I think it's time to get off... I'm going to be doing mine on a standard car, and was wondering, do I need to downshift and let out the clutch threw every gear? Or Just go 5-4-3-2-1 without letting out the clutch?

Thanks

Why would you be slowing down from 5th to a stop :)

From what I remember when I took my test (this was in ontario like 6 years ago), if you have the time to do it, downshift, and engine brake. If you don't have enough time to do it, don't bother. They're not going to criticise you for not downshifting every time you stop. And don't bother downshifting into 1st. go from 2nd to neutral.

From what I remember in my bike course you should always been in first gear, incase you need to move asap, I would assume it is the same in a car?

Well lets say you're heading glenmore? and you see a amber light, you still have time to stop...

I go 5-3-2-N or just throw it into neutral and use the brake... jeeze.

I do the exact same thing, but arn't you suppose to be in 1st at a red light?

I'm just asking becuase I NEED to take my GLD test, and I'm pretty sure i can't just go 5-4-3-2-N

Oh damn.. Testing I don't know. I examined on an auto probably 8 years ago.. Keep it in first at the red light, that way you can't go wrong.. play that card. I don't know. Dont let your foot slip though.

Why not? Do 5-4-3-2-N, coast to stop, then get into 1st while waiting for the light to change.
