Spec V is slow tho...I would go the RSX-S Route, or a 20th anni GTI.

1.8t golf...type-s...MP 5...your could probably squeeze in as GTS for about 35...mmmm...all these cars are nice...you would have to drive each to find your preference...no matter what anybody tells you, you should drive them all!

Scratch up the extra $1k and get a WRX. Fast, decent handling, lots of go fast goodies available, reliable, safe and fantastic for year round driving.

Isn't a WRX $36K + tax? I think this guy wants $35K including everything.

I test drove the Type S, and was only really impressed with the gear box and the amenities it came with.
I test drove the Mazdaspeed Protege and was impressed with the handling, stereo system, looks and handling. The seats suck though. I didn't even take that hard of a turn and I was sliding all over the place.
My brothers own a 2002 Spec V and I like it a lot. It looks nice, has a lot of torque and is fairly cheap. Only problem is that the 2004's don't look that nice.
The Celica GT-S's for 2004 got dissed in the Sun last sunday.

Spec-V is really bang for your buck, but it is a sentra..so you give up stuff like a nice interior. I'd pick the RSX-S if I could, but if I'm paying for it, I'd rather have the Spec and 8 grand.

If you are looking in ballpark of 35 grand to spend on a car, I'd go for something better that you will be happier with. Unless you really don't care about stuff like interior and 'status'.

Accord coupe 6 speed - all around
SRT4 - quicker than a wrx
2.5RS wagon - reliability, practicality
20th anniversary GTI - great performer, great all around compact
Jetta or golf TDI - decent performance, amazing fuel economy
mustang gt - potential,

Yeah, its not as fast and all that (i know there will be a ton of people commenting on that) But it is a nice car with good build quality and great tunability. Both cars are very good for the money.

better how? cause it is not as fast even with mods, it does not handle as good, interior is not as good, and resale goes to the type s. The only thing you might have is looks and that is personal.

Whats easier to mod, a RSX or a Turbo VW?

Definitely RSX-S! I still want one haha
The WRX is closer to $40k, depending how much you bargain off.

RSX-S, bolt ons actually do something on this car. Everyones talking about intake adding 8-10whp!! And Azncowboy ran 14.55 so RSX-S all the way!!!

:werd: RSX-S with bolt-on's makes crazy power compared to old Honda's.

I'm a little biased on this one but I ended up with the Spec V because it was sporty (lots of torque) and it has four doors. I tried the RSX-type S (which is quite a bit more) and I felt cramped in it (white guy, 6', 200lbs).

I also bought the Spec V because at the time they wasn't a lot of them on the street. That has changed now with more of them out there, however there are still way more RSX's then Spec's on the street.

ya, I noticed that with the RSX in the past few weeks...everyone seem to have one, but no one payed up for the "s"...wonder why???
..concerning bolt ons, you must remember that this is a new motor for honda...it is much more receptive to I/H/E (compared to old H, B, D series)...not taking away anything from the golf though...factory turbo=good
