Pics from Stephen Avenue this evening. Really good turn out. Was hoping for the Saleen to make a guest appearance. Spent about three hours there and had a chance to talk to a few owners and ZR chief mechanic at length. Super friendly bunch, not cocky at all. The mechanic opened up the Novitec F430 to show me everything Novitec on the car. Zahir the owner came out at one point and opened up the Enzo...then turned it on. That was LOUD!

You know... I love italian pasta rockets and everything, but...

I can't help but think all these ZR customer publicity stunts... the publicized meets, the videos, the posters, etc. are all a big: ** LOOK AT ME.... LOOK AT ME... LOOK AT ME!!!! kind of desparate grab for some celebrity status.

This was their kickoff for the 2000km weekend fun run. Heading down to Coeur d'Laine, then upto Golden, and back.

Surprisingly, the guys at the meet were the opposite of showy. I was chatting with a 360 owner asking if he gets nervous with people leaning over the car taking pics, to which he replied "Its just a car". We had a full conversation and he was telling me that he just ordered an F430 and Bentley CGT. Funny thing is that he showed up with his kid, so there was a Ferrari with a child booster seat.

Most of the spiders had their top and windows down so people could check it out. Some kids asked Zahir, the enzo and ZR owner, to open the car. Zahir came away from the patio and obliged. As expected, everyone rushed to the Enzo and were asking him to rev it up. He politely replied that its loud and he does not want to disturb the rest of the people. After hearing the collective sad groans, he jumped in and turned it on for like 10 seconds, stepped out, answered a few questions and headed back. I was talking to the Chief mechanic of ZR about the Novitec F430. He took me to the car, opened it up and showed me everything that was Novitec. Similar stories about the Murcielago and Gallardo owners.

I can appreciate what you're saying there but I've got to say, if I had any one of those cars I'd be pretty freakin' proud of it and would do the same thing! I don't think it's a grab for status, it's just how you do it when you've got a million dollar car to show-off!

The Enzo and Gold Diablo SE pulled in together and they could be heard from Macleod Tr + 8th Ave. (They were on Centre + 8th)

It was quite funny when Zahir turned on the Enzo. As soon as he jumped in, 20 people huddled around the car. I stepped away from it. I've seen enough videos to know that it does not purr like a kitten. Sure enough, as soon as he turned it on, everyone jumped back a couple feet. I was five feet away and still felt my shoes rumble.

I see what you're saying, but they actually have a right to some celebrity status. A good chunk of the other engines that I heard revving were from stupid teenagers on bikes or in their Civics.

I took about 800 pics, so I'm sorting through them now, and I'll post some of the better ones soon.

Oh, yeah. I'm in this photo (http://www.mypicshare.com/f6hymstipic.html), behind the guy in the plaid shirt looking imposingly overtop the engine bay.

Well the cars certainly do to some extent, but I'm not so sure about whether the owners do.

Have you seen their video? (from a couple years ago)

Ha ha ha... yup. That's me. Hey, I needed the angles. A few pics actually turned out OK.

I uploaded 26 of my favourites to Flickr. Here's the link to the album (http://www.flickr.com/photos/9196402@N06/).

On the drive in, the Yellow Gallardo was being tailed by some goofball in a green civic with crappy bolt-on wing.

What's wrong to show off these nice cars if we can have one(s)? Doesn't it make more sense than putting on a big GT spoiler on the trunk of a FWD Civic (or any similar car) and a big exhaust pipe, and have the same "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!" mindset?
:D

The Porsche was my favourite. Heard owner start it up and rev it, very crisp.

The speedo was crazy and useless for a road car though. 0 - 200 mph in 180 degrees marked off in 25 mph increments! Certainly in the UK it would be more sensible to mark it as 30, 50 and 70 mph, nothing else matters.

True enough. :D

However, in the case of the civic owner, he'd just be an idiot.

Wow, keep away from sharp things if you'd end someone's life just to SEE a car.

all the elitist guys with these cars probably wouldn't go on a cruise like this anyway...they think they're better than the other people that own the same cars too :p or maybe it's that being around another car that's the same as there's would make them feel less cool about the shiny new extension of their penis they just bought

so you're left with the guys that are actually kinda cool about their cars on these cruises

smontyLS1

have you seen the cruise videos? most of these guys go. lots of them have the "its just a car" attitude.

ps are you allowed to have that blowjob fan banner in your sig? or is there not enough visual to make it explicit?

I was there too, but didn't make it into any of the photos from what I could see. The party was a kickoff for a 4 day Spring cruise that started the following morning. From what I know, all the cars at the party were in the cruise. Except the Enzo - that one stayed at home. There were about 20 Lambos and Ferraris on the cruise this time around, and not one ticket was given out.

Oh, and that green Civic following the Gallardo? That's the Lambo owner's son that was following him. His son works at ZR with me.

How do you drive over speedbumps?
Useless vehicles if you ask me.

Unless you can afford to have a crew follow you everywhere you go, stop at a speedbump, take out jackhammers tear up the road, remove the speed bump entirely, let you drive through.

and then pay the city for the damages and rebuild the speedbump.

All these cars have a certain button to raise the nose to get over a speed bump. But Im fairly certain a F430 or Gallardo that is not lowered or has a body kit will make it over your average sized speed bump with out that feature. If you own a Ferrari or Lambo, Im sure you own a Range Rover or Cayenne to go and do the grocery or mall run.

exactly...all these cars are worth so much money, i somehow doubt that speedbumps are going to be on their mind. just like dino said anyone that can afford these cars most likely has 1 or 10 other cars to run their errands
useless vehicles??? lol thats fuckin hilarious, talk about jealousy at its max right there
