I have a 2001 Audi A4 that is having a lot of problems. Looking to do a S4 swap, does anyone have a good condition used S4 engine or know of where I can get one? Does anyone know of how much they go for?

Thanks.

I beleive they are in teh 5-8k range...not to mention all the other wiring harness etc that you need.. you are better off selling the car, or jusr replacing with the stock motor. (1.8T or 2.8)

icic... well I got about 10k to play around with... do you think that will take care of it all?

It would be close... very close. There are a few people on Audiworld who have done it.. and it wasnt cheap. Almost better off buying a new stock motor (maybe 3-4k installed?) selling it, and buying an S4.

Yeah i say sell your car, and use the money from that car plus your 10 k and get an s4. Then you will get more than just the engine :D

hmmmm.... Talked to a mechanic today that specializes in Euro cars and he said that the S4 motors are like anywhere from $3000 to $4000. He even showed me the website where he buys all his motors, we found a S4 motor in TO with only 68k for only $2400. I asked him what was the total price... he quoted me.... Motor, shipment of motor, install, extra materials... for $6000 to $7000... then he said add an extra $2000 for a tranny + install too.

So... S4 motor, S4 (5speed tiptronic), installed for under $10k

why don't you just build a 1.8T...I'll be just as fast and you'll be under 10G's for sure...less headaches

Can't sell the car, it's on a lease. Don't want to go thru the hassle of finding someone who will take over the lease either. So option of selling the car is out of the question, I rather spend the money on engine.
