If you are European like me you will like to see these on the streets. Ever since I moved to Canada I never seen one until yesterday walking to boxing club I see a Bendy Bus it was pretty sick. Can't wait to pay my 2.25$ for a ride in that bad boy. Nice addition to the CT garage.

same one but except it was brand new all white and a few CT badges on it.

Did you happen to notice if it was in service or not yet?

I saw one a few weeks ago that was out of service and was being used to train the drivers on it.

BTW - there are a bunch of those buses in Vancouver and Toronto. I think even Edmonton has a few.

No I don't believe it was in service, It was heading to the garage by stampede grounds.

I would assume it would be set up just like a bus pulling a trailer right? the only difference is that there is material between the two to parts..

I wonder if you need your class 1 to drive it or if your class 2 will just work.

I think they are in service. I saw one on the 301 route the other day.

Does this mean Bus drivers get more money. They had that big stink about 18" or something in that last dispute

Saw one downtown today on 6Ave. Looked to be in service as it was stopping at the bus stops....but who knows it could be only for training. No ads on it yet and was just white.

The correct term is articulated bus, but hey, Bendy bus works too :)

THEY ARE IN SERVICE, I WAS ON THE 301 THE OTHER DAY!! It's pretty cool being inside and there was only a few people standing whereas the normal ride home it was jam packed and people were always left at some pickup stops.

I used to take the Route 10 downtown on 6ave and always noticed the 301 being just jammed packed full of people. Looks like a good route to use the new buses on.

They put them in service on Wednesday. 301 is getting them for now.

Every time I see an articulated bus, I think of the one in the russian tunnel video...

Yep, taken one on the 301 route the last few days. Quite nice to have some extra room in the morning. They are brand new and feel great. Kinda weird sitting in the back and feeling like your in a trailer!

I heard on the radio that the new buses can be driven by all CT transit employees, so I guess that means they don't need a class 1

Calgary had a few on trial in the late 70s. They were made by http://www.mtbm.com.my/bus/index.htm .

I don't think you'd need a class 1 in any case. It probably strictly falls under the classification of 'bus over 24 passengers', regardless of its length/number of axles.

They let me drive fire trucks on a 5 with air brake endorsement... the only trucks I would need a 3 to drive would be tandem axle jobs, which my department has none of... and I'm a class 4 anyway, which gives me the ability to drive buses of 23 pax and under (as well as ambulances, which is the reason I've got it)

One drove past me when i was waiting downtown on wednesday. Back end of the bus was quite far into the other lane too:rofl:

i dont see why you would need your class 1, cause with your class 2 or even your 3 your allowed to drive a tandem axle vehicle and tow a trailer up to 10000 kgs. I dont think that would weight more then that so they should be able to drive it with their class 2. But maybe im wrong about the weight of that thing

And on a related note. Has anyone else seen the new buses in rotation that still don't have the CT Livery on them??

In plain white they look sooo clean and pimp hahaha...

Where I work is very close to one of the larger bus terminals/hangouts in the NE. One of my co-workers saw the 'naked' buses during the incipient stages of the transit strike/job action/rumblings and said, "Looks like the sign shop is part of the union too." :D

Wait wait wait... hold on...

Calgary actually did something to IMPROVE transit? Asides from just throwing more trains on the tracks and clogging up road traffic?

Wow. I'm impressed.

Lol, I don't think they'd fit in the tunnels, double decker buses would be good though.

They borrowed one from Vancouver for a while in 2002 - 2003:

http://www.barp.ca/bus/alberta/ct/ct9027.html

They said they were good, but would have to trim alot of trees along the roads and the buses wouldnt make it under some over passes. The articulated bus is neat.

it's easier to add more cars to the c-train.
