I was out in the NSX the other day and had a guy in a Integra give me a thumbs up....at least I think it was a thumb. Hard to tell with his tinted windows. I just smiled but afterwards thought maybe he'll be posting on a thread somewhere about the stuck up NSX driver who didn't wave back. So what is the proper response? Thumbs up? Or does that mean I like his car too? What if I didn't really like his car? Or does that mean I want to race? Aside from the middle finger, which has obvious meanings, there seems to be a whole set of signals that get passed between drivers that may be misunderstood. So I thought I would ask the group. What would you have done in my situation? What signals do you use and what do they mean?

When I get a thumbsup I usually just smile and nod, seems polite enough I think
Giving a thumbsup back would just be kinda gay whether you like his car or not imo

Thumbs up usually happens after a good spirited run.

aha.. funny post. I think you're safest bet is the head nod, you gotta acknowledge the props.

Few years back I was fixing hail damage with someone from Oklahoma (license plates)

So being the youngest the gang kinda forced me into picking up lunch and the took the Oklahomian's truck (one of those big crew cab Dodge with limo tint; legal in their State)

Trans Canada Hwy ran through this town, and this guy in a F-150 was tailing me, I was like WTF, I'm going 87ish in a 80k... then he passes and gives me an "OK"  signal???

The Oklahomian isn't aware of anything like that either. Weird eh.

The head nod is what I use all the time...To both offer props and acknowledge it...
