Just thought I would post up some of my more interesting swap pictures.. sometimes I forget all the different ones I've encountered. Some were a good experience, others (*ahem* MR2..) I'm not sure I would enjoy quite so much another time around.

Nissan 240sx SR20 swap, a fun swap with pleasing results.

EF CRX Type R swap - This car was scary fast for NA

And of course.. my ongoing project
Del Sol H22 swap

I'll post more up this week possibly (if the owner permits). I'm currently working on an EK GSR swap, and a Skyline GTR RB26 swap after that.

Are those boxes of chinese porn in the back ground? Are they for sale or do you give them out when you do a swap?

Haha thanks for pointing those out Terry...
Porn? Hell no, thats Jon's grandfathers special collection of rare and hard to find episodes of "Three's Company".

.. and yes I do give a free box with every swap.

It's a twin engine Del Sol. One h22 in the back, one in the front.

might want to post the HT link Scott so people here can see the insane amount of work that's gone into this sol.

Sure, someone might find it interesting. :D
My H-T thread (http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1266033), 2yrs old, 42 pages and counting.

I didn't realize I had taken so many pictures of these swaps but never posted them before.. just seemed like a waste not to share.

PS. Etienne the race is on to see if I can beat you to Race-city this year. I'm willing to go without painting mine; 4 colors FTW!

dude all I need is a front main seal (it was never the pan lol) a new oem headgasket and some headstuds where as yours looks like it needs a few more pieces

The only reason mine is taking so long is because I can never find time to work on it.

Maybe I should take it next Friday and see if they tech me with this oil leak and the minor leak in the gasket just to beat you:burnout:

what's left to do on yours? oil lines and coolant lines for the turbo and your shift linkage? Is the interior back in? People's jaws will drop the night you bring this out.

I suggest you have some business cards ready!

Now now.. oil leaks are not safe. You can't go racing like that.. besides the tech will notice you're missing 279cc and a camshaft.

I've got so much work to do on my Sol it's not even funny.

Thanks, glad you like it!

The work is done at mine or my friends houses, depending on who is available and what is being done. There are a group of us that share projects and help each other out on an informal basis; no shop as of yet but it may be in the cards for the future.

Once you are building them, the price is hard to argue, but for a swap, it took 10lbs of boost on a b18 to make the same power as my bolt-on k20 with Honda cams and intake manifold.
I still say the best is a k24 from an element or cr-v if you want to go boost. They are $1200 running, swap mounts, and with boost simply blow lesser displacement motors out of the water.
The cr is good for at least 8-10lbs, likely more stock.
On a 2.4L, that would equal a ton of power for the buck.
Everybody thinks about the $6500 k20a from the type-r...

Here's a DC5 base model that I swapped a Type-S K20A2 into today.. it took rougly 4 hours with hand tools to disassemble and drop the motor out.

My honda parking lot..
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/WhiteSol/swaps/DC5_K20A2_01.jpg

This is the reason the K20A3 was being swapped out.. dropped #4 rod right through the side of the block and poked out the oil pan.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/WhiteSol/swaps/DC5_K20A2_02.jpg

The drop rig. It consists of engine hoist, chain winch and 2 floor jacks to level out the subframe
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/WhiteSol/swaps/DC5_K20A2_04.jpg

Once its down far enough the subframe is disconnected from the motor and removed, then the engine is free to drop down and slide out.

Thought I would add this one.. I'm increasing my repetoire into Subaru's with this Legacy Ej20t STi V4 swap.

EJ20t

Dropped in..

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/WhiteSol/portfolio/Legacy-Ej20v405.jpg

The challenging part... the wiring. I spent quite a few hours going over web resources and everything I read said to pull the entire wiring harness from the car (dash and all) and splice in the EJ20 wiring harness. Frankly, I considered that bullshit.. so instead I created a plug and play harness by desoldering the ej25 ecu plug. The most difficult part was breaking down the service manual wiring diagrams into a usable spreadsheet.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/WhiteSol/portfolio/Legacy-Ej20v406.jpg
Couple hours later...
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/WhiteSol/portfolio/Legacy-Ej20v407.jpg

I still have to add a sub-loom for IAT and boost control, but this method seems much more logical than pulling the whole harness :nut:

they say you can fit any subaru engine into any subaru chassis, the shittiest part is the wiring, you've just proved tons of tuner mags and shops wrong lol, you should advertise your services on the net or on nasioc or something, without disclosing detail methods..

Yes its true any subaru boxer engine will fit in any boxer equipped subaru.

As for the wiring, I believe the confusion stems from a lack of information and low aftermarket support. I've still yet to find ver7/8 wiring info... I spent hours searching for good wiring information, only to come up with the same junk people copied and pasted across the net. So more than likely the "swap the entire harness in" idea was the result of that.

Anyways, once I verify everything works I'll post up my findings on NASIOC..

That Tribeca EZ36 engine is sick, completely a different animal than the EJ series, which is much more closely related to the EG 6cyl engines found in the SVX.

Thought I would add these..

DC2 ITR with a Peakboost turbo kit.. all work done by myself including the swap, ITR 5 lug, turbo kit, and custom built 3" exhaust...

The Peakboost kit is very good quality, however it still required a Civic half rad and some modifications to the dump tube. Best part of the entire kit is the PWR intercooler, which fits under the stock bumper without ANY modification.

First for Calgary I am sure, if not the first in western Canada... K20Z1 into a '93 GSR DA Integra. This was a challenging swap due to the fact that Innovative's mounts were less than perfect, clearances were extremely tight, and extensive subframe modifications were required. To top it all off, Hybrid-R screwed up the universal harness and I had to troubleshoot their wiring.

(note, the intake is just temporary)

Now the curious thing is, 3 out of the 4 of those will not be what you might call a "regular" swap.

MAD PROPS

Thanks a lot! I appreciate your interest in what I've done, and I hope to post some things this year that might raise the bar a bit.

That's the charcoal canister, it is part of the fuel system/emissions control. It works in conjunction with the purge valve to collect gasoline vapours and vent them into the engine where they can be burnt vs the gas tank venting vapours directly to the atmosphere.

Nice stuff.
3 out of 4 of those are good choices!!!!
More people need to get on the k-wagon. Easy power, lots of parts, bullet-proof everything.
An easy 400whp turbo motor on pump, all day. 200+whp on n/a with a few parts all day.
You get what you pay for, and it looks like it's finally sinking in.
Have fun, can't wait for more pics!!!!

I'd agree with you for the most part, but bulletproof they are not. K-series have their strengths and weaknesses just like every other Honda engine, but they really do have a lot of potential in stock form. Conservatively, Honda detuned the K-series engines by at least 20%.

It's a J but it's not into an EK ;)
