The cluster was replaced by BMW on warranty at 84,523km (this is on record at Calgary BMW).
The pictures were taken yesterday.

You're right! Two years from now, a new Lancer will be worth a fraction of the purchase cost, while a BMW, like mine, will still be worth around what you paid... and the initial cost of a used BMW is about a third of the Lancer. The Lancer is nice, but not that nice.
