I think he's worth every penny. There's only two players I'd trade Iggy for: Thorton or Crosby (not that SJ or PIT would go for it).

Also, how the hell did SJ sign Thorton at $6.6? Best bargin in the NHL.

Thornton signed for 21.6 over 3 years, so average of 7.2, but yeah he will get 6.6 in the first. Not bad at all for that player.

Crosby ftw.

Thornton's like Iggy; instead of testing the free agent waters and possibly raking in more cash somewhere else they'd rather stay in the cities they're in b/c they have a chance of winning there.

Good on them...

Looks like the penguins have some smart guys in the front office.

Well, it's nice to see committment between players and their teams rather than just hearing about UFAs going with the biggest offer sheet. i.e. Buffalo/Briere/Drury. It should be a good season with the power houses once again. I wonder which underdog teams are going to do the best.

I think by signing Crosby now, they still have a few years of enthusiasm left in him. It'll be interesting to see how long they can hold onto Malkin and Staal for.
