ok so im getting closer to picking up a car and stop using the bimmer

well i drove my sis's 240sx which she was gonna give to me but she took it back because shes evil like that. well i want to get another 240sx maybe a 89 model. but now i been looking at at the HB civics like 92 models or a 4th gen lude... now i'm completely confused and have no idea wut to go with. yes i know this type of topic has been discussed before. but i want to know wut u guys think is a better pick and the reasons y. i want to get a car that i can play around with, to learn how to fix cars myself and junk, and i am a beginner so which car would fit that too. or is there any other car that u think should i go for. these cars i know i can find 5 grand USD and under.

so yea please give me some info, opinions and suggestions. serious answers plz no newbie stupid trying to be smart ass comments

it all depends what you would be using it for. if it is strictly for the street just cruising i would go with the prelude. comfortable ride with good power. if you are going to autocross i would go with the 240 or the civic hatch. those two platforms have a lot of aftermarket support and you could learn how to do an engine swap if you wanted. go drive all 3 and see which one feels the best for you. good luck picking up a car and make sure you don't rush into a decision!

Honda's are cheap and after market parts are everywhere and cost effective! But a 240 with and SR20 kick ass !! S-14 convertion and a turbo very original but very $$$$$!
GOod luck!

If you go for the 240sx, get a later year since 89 was the first model year.

I hate to do this but, You started one or two of these threads where people provided input,....so you want to start another one?

Just drive the cars see which one you like best for fuck sakes. Actually just but the honda that way we dont have to have to hear your 500 threads that post if a sr swap is worth it.

Sorry, flame if you want but you abusing the forum IMO with these repeat posts.

I used to drive a honda civic and I totally hated it. not enough power and just a scooter to get you from a to b. But with civic's they make very good show cars and i did like how they are strongly supported with aftermarket parts which aren't that expensive.

With the 240sx, well i just love the rwd on rainy days. the only problem with the 240sx is that the aftermarket parts will cost you an arm and a leg once you get them installed. but for 1 sparco sprint seat it cost me $575 with install because sparco doesn't make mounts for the 240 and than you have to rip apart the stockrails just to get the right fit. But there are a few companies like pdm-racing.com that are in canada that have parts that are hard to get for the 240 and in the usa, well j-spec is a good referance even though he doesn't post all of his products on his site.

well its all up to you. but personally at times I wish i bought a 92 si hatch. oh and with the 240's don't count on getting big guys into it

240sx is the way to go if you have the money

If you like driving fast (who doesn't???) the 240 will be a much more rewarding car to drive. RWD is much much better in my opinion. I would go with a later model one with the DOHC engine (not sure which year it came out). I think the SOHC engine would still be alright though.
