My g/f has a 98 civic hatch that doesn't have A/C and these 35+ days in Lethbridge are brutal for her. How hard is it to put it in and where is the best place to find the parts I would need, and an estimated cost?

not happening...those systems are hard enough to work on, let alone install. Sell the car and buy one that has a/c

Honda made a dealer install system for them as they never came from the factory with air. The kit had everything in it except the refrigerant. Price used to be about $1000.00 plus 5.2 hours to put it in, can actually be done in about 2.5 hours. If you check with a dealer he may still be able to find one but being 8 years old maybe a problem.

I take it you've never worked on one or you wouldn't be saying that; it actually is a very easy system to work on IF you know what you are doing.

Warranty time to install one is 5.2 hours but can be done in 2.5 hours.

Unless you're doing the work yourself, it might be in your best interest to buy a car that has A/C. Shop rates really hurt the wallet these days.

The compressor and receiver drier and lines might not be so bad, but the evaporator could get pretty tricky.

I did it on my 88 CRX... took about a day of labour in my driveway, 70 bucks @ pick'n'pull for the system (it was a half-off day), and 70 bucks for the redtek kit. All in all, not that hard. Hardest part was getting the condensor in... had to remove the rad for that. The evaporator was a snap. and most of the wiring was there, just had to run the front wiring harness for the fan, compressor, and power.

YO, just get one of those mini fans with those suction clips to the windshield. Like those couriers use in their cars. hah.

Do you have a SOHC or DOHC? If you have a DOHC I have a full AC kit for you.
Let me know
