so i bought a kasabian cd to listen to at work, and it won't play unless i install specific software from the record label, same idea as the last foo fighters record.

anyone know if i can get past this so i can put it on my ipod? or am i going to have to "illegally" download the album even though i bought it?

Come by my place with the CD, I can try and convert it for you to a true audio CD.

as soon as you put the cd in, it prompts an install window, if you decline then it ejects the disc

Yup, I stopped the autorun for the last Foo Fighters cd and was able to copy it on itunes. Problem is that if you already let it autorun once, it will have installed something that won't let this trick work.

Try it on a fresh computer if you can (i.e. one you haven't tried to play the cd in).

yep, that sounds like a solution. Under the circumstance that doesnt work, try going ctrl+alt+delete and then close the program.....

To disable autorun, hold down shift as you put the cd in and only let go when it's done reading.

tried it, skipped auto run, but every track scrambles like a skipping cd when you play it in windows media player.

after doing more reading, its the exact same software that was used on the foo fighters album, the long way around it is burning the cd to a blank cd, THEN loading it into i.tunes, what a hassle.

anyone have kasabian's first album through torrents?

Download a trail version of Anydvd, it will bypass the DRM on the CD.

it won't be illegal to download it you have bought the cd. Because you can legally have a back-up of the cd you bought.

i'll just get one of my friends to burn it for me (no cd burner :( )

returned it w/o issue, picked up some classic daft punk and the new re-release of foo fighters colour and the shape with 6 more tracks

This happened to me too.

I bought the new Comeback Kid cd and it won't let me put the songs on my computer.

iTunes from now on.. fuck...

This is not an issue.

Turn off Autorun, Remove the stupid software the cd installed.
Download/purchase and Install AnyDVD enable the option to fix the audio cd protection.

Then use any software you want to rip.
