lately i've noticed my car is making these strange rattling/ticking sounds whenever i make a left turn and sometimes when i'm just traveling down the road in a straight path at roughly 60-80 km/h. i haven't the slightest clue what the problem could be since i'm not familiar with car parts, has anyone else ever had this problem before?

I have a similar problem with my car...when I make sharp turns, or when im going over 100km/hr.
Where's the sound coming from?

the sound seems to be coming from either the wheels or somewhere else underneath the car. i can't really tell since i can't really pop my head all the way out the window to listen while trying to drive at the same time lol

I'm gonna take my car in to a mechanic soon, its got a few other problems as well. I will let you know if I figure out what the problem is.

I bet it's control arms or tie rod ends.

I had a similar problem in my car when Two Square Auto (before I found Tune Dub) put in POS third party control arms/tie-rod ends which wore out in about a month but charged me for Audi stuff.

When I found out I had George replace everything with Audi stuff and all is 100% fine.

Is it a costly fix?

Not really, no. Definitely do it at a third party place if you can rather than the dealer. It's well under $200 for each part if I remember correctly, and hardly any labor at all. If it is indeed a control arm or tie rod end rather than an axle, chances are its just one part causing the trouble.

Just take it in and find out what it is, it's usually pretty easy to tell if its a control arm/ tie rod end or something like that.

My bud has this same noice right now on his civic. I believe he needs a new axle

is a new axle harder to replace than the control arm or tie rod end?

I know the tie-rod ends arent very hard to replace at all... You can rent a puller from part source and do it yourself.

I thought a clicking-while-turning noise always meant you need new CV axles...That's what they told us at Canadian Tire anyways.
