I just saw one in person for the first time yesterday.
Were any of you near Signal Hill? I didn't even realize it was RHD, yet alone an Aristo until it drove away. Nice car .

also, if anyone has a line on a right upper ball joint/control arm, please PM me! Only ones i can find are $370 each!

If you found them for $370, take them. Thats probably the cheapest you will find them.

It cost me over $1200 to get both sides done. Cheapest I could find was around $500, per side. Had to get them from a Lexus warehouse in L.A., California.

Also, for something like that, dont get a part that a buddy of a friend says is from the same car as your Aristo. People say "Its the same as the 94' IS300" or Blah Blah Blah, all Im saying is make sure they are 100% positive going to fit before you order; alot of places that place orders with Lexus are non-returnable, as-in, if you order the wrong ones, that $500 Ball-Joint turned into a $1000 Ball-Joint and a paperweight. Just a word of advice as when I got both of mine done, the place that did the work didnt get it right until the third set. Thank god I didnt have to pick up the bill for that one.

if that doesn't work, car-parts.com, and use 1990-1995 on the second search page, used but it will get you through an inspection until you find a better source. $35 is the cheapest i saw on there, i'm guessing the ball joint is part of the control arm as that is what i searched for.

Illeagle: Champion Toyota carries Lexus parts. Ask for Jeff Watson. The number is: 713-943-7010. He's pretty good with shipping to Canada as he does not include the invoice with the shipment. He will mail it to you separately in order to save on the duty.

I can't believe how cheap parts are for my 7M. They are even cheaper than NAPA or Partsource. We get fuckin ripped off in Canada. Oh well, I guess that's reality when Newport Beach Lexus sells as many units as Canada sells in an entire year.

Sort of an old thread... but...

There is a procedure to use for those key FOBs in order to set them up to work. Unfortunately, I don't know what that is. It could be key on/key off touch brake 4 times while holding the key button with your big toe on your left foot. Try searching some of the Aristo forums for some answers.

My key fob works fine, although battery life isn't good and the range sucks.

14.4 @97mph really isn't good for those mods. I'd start checking for boost leaks, turbo problem (or problem with vsvs), plugs, coil packs, etc..

Your mph is out of whack which means simply that the horsepower isn't there. Yes, it's 3800lbs, but a BPUd supra can run 112-118+mph on the track. The 800 lbs makes a big difference, but it should be more like 7-10mph not 20+ mph.

For reference, I was running 108mph traps with less mods in Edmonton last weekend on my Aristo. Normally on 15-ish psi on the street, mine is closer to 103-104mph.

well its kind of hard launching my car. if i load the turbos, the tires start to spin at 2000rpm

also your in edmonton, it kind of makes a difference with performance.

a usdm supra also has bigger turbos and bigger injectors, that also makes a big difference

I know of atleast 2 Aristo's that have run that time specifically. Talonboi's and myself. I would not start condemming (sp?) turbo's or vsvs and such. You are able to tamper with boost we were not able at that time. (Stock boost 14.4@97) I will have BPU status soon so well see if it can trap 100+ MPH

Who's up for a little Aristo cruise later on next month? before it starts snowing?

talonboi
09-24-2007, 12:01 AM
well my car is parked till next spring, i was rear ended last month and was hit again in the front, no major damages just too much bad luck.

whatthe
09-24-2007, 12:59 PM
I was trying to organize a cruise or other on http:\\www.clubaristo.net I'm actually getting ready to park mine for the winter now though.

I'm from Calgary and tried to hit Race City a couple of weeks ago, but it was raining in the North of Calgary (ok in the south), so they let the auto-x go and closed the strip. I wasn't impressed so I decided to just drive up to Edmonton as they have the better track anyway.

MPH in the 1/4 is more a measure of horsepower than a good launch. I had another car of mine at Race City and I ran 16.2@95mph on a really slippery first run, then ran a 14.6@97mph on the next run on the same boost setting. ET can change a lot, but mph shouldn't change a lot.

I'm just saying that from my experience with 2JZs and my Aristo you should be able to see at least another 50hp by checking into some simple items (ignition, cats, boost, etc.). It is a 3800lb. 4 door boat, but you should be able to see 102-103mph traps on the street in Calgary with BPU status (from my tests anyway). 14.5-15.0 completely stock is right where it should be in Calgary. If you have more mods, the 1/4 shouldn't stay the same. If you were both stuck at 12psi or something, that would be a big problem right there. With a really unrestrictive exhaust, with good mufflers and no cats and a good intake, you'll probably be more worried about boost cut than 12psi though.

Oh and mine runs 14.6 @ 96MPH all day long on the shitty, bald, cracking, 15 year old JDM tires. No mods done, and no plans for any.

Hey Arif!!!

Yeah, no kidding.... I was on too many forums, then stopped hanging out on any of them for a while (school, etc.) we should have a reunion of the minds one of these days. Head out for a beer or whatever...

Lot of changes in my life.. including the need for a 4 door (bonus that it seems to have good passing power).

Re: meet

I'll have to check what has been planned for me the October weekend. I'll make a post on the other place as well.

I know of a few others in town. I don't know if any of them have posted on here or not though..

whatthe
10-17-2007, 02:05 PM
From my experience, I would not recommend speedy brake apollo muffler around 40th ave on MacLeod Trail. I asked them if it drove straight and was told that tracking straight is a separate process from the alignment so they didn't look at that. My car btw was no better after than it was before. They also had a 'shop tools' charge in addition to the alignment on the bill that I had to dispute. Also, oddly enough, they could not tell me what the alignment specs before or after were.

I do however recommend Alvin Automotive. They provide a print out of the alignment specs before and after, and don't add on phony charges. They can usually get you in within a few days.

Okay, Aristo guys..GS300 peeps. Lets think of a date that works for everyone, whenever your cars are back on the road. If the majority`s cars are off the road for several weeks to come we can figure out another date.

What I was thinking was a cruise somewhere, grab lunch and discuss about the cool cars. Then after that whatever, cruise....etc...play it by ear.

i figured i'd ask the question in here,
there are a handful of 1UZ-FE AWD Aristos (3000 i guess) that were built, does anyone happen to know where their drivetrain came from or was it specifically developed for the first gen Aristos with V8s?

just looking into future maintenance issues for a friend who might buy one.
