I'm buying an RSX type S how difficult is it going to be to turbo the K20 and can I keep the AC?

Its going to be expensive to turbo. Due to the high compression ratio you will have to do all of the inner componets. (pisons, rods, stems, etc)

It won't be that difficult, there are A/C friendly turbo kits. Your fuel management is going to be a big part of the cost though - the free OBD1 applications like Crome/Uberdata aren't going to be available for your setup.

Even if you don't run incredibly high boost? I heard that the k20 didn't need much boost to add power?

In my opinion i dont think turboing a rsx is really worth it.
Cost your a hell of alot of money that you wont ever see again,
does nothing for retail
and could make it harder to sell later.

Im not sure if you need to do internals even for low boost, i have been told you have but you never know. the k20 reacts very well to bolt on mods and hondata. I had it on my rsx type s and loved it.

i don't think keeping the a/c is a problem as the turbo kit is no where near the a/c stuff.

What am I going to be looking at roughly cost wise? I heard that power potential was quite good.

To do it right, you are going to spend ALOT more than 6g. I was looking at spending around $12g including Kpro and dyno time for my RSX. That was a Full Race kit with a new fuel system though.

There is no need for any internal parts when going turbo on the Kseries. They will easily make 350-400 whp with the right fuel system and a good tune. There are a few who ran over 500 whp for a while before a boost spike (43 psi on a GT35R) blew it up.

The other issue is the drivetrain. Since it is so easy to make big power, things like the clutch, diff and axles will all need to be looked at in short order.

Yep mike's right... you'll be looking at atleast 5g's for just the turbo kit (for a full race stage 1) and thats not including K-pro...

I think the only thing you could pull off with 6g's would be a supercharger setup.

Aww ur right, i had my numbers wrong, 12 grand is about right if your wanting to keep the reliability of the car also.

Yeah, no need for internals with a good tune.
If you really want the power that bad, it will cost.
Just throw some n/a parts at it, it reacts very well as stated.
For about 5g's, you can have a very quick car, fun, and reliable.
Mike is right, turbo done right will be about 12g's, but 400whp is possible.

as said before, why not supercharge?

Because the supercharger setups available for the RSX are all SHIT. They have terrible tensioner setups and don't make very much power. Without a doubt, turbo is the way to go.

A buddy of mine made the same whp with his 7 psi SC'd TypeS running on a tuned Kpro with header and exhaust as my MS3 made with an intake.......
