Breaking news kind of thing, no link.

Apparantly there was some kind of fire underground and now they are trapped but the word is they are all accounted for and made it to a refuge station somewhere down there.

They are in the process of trying to establish contact with them now.

Yikes! Hopefully nothing too serious.

Is this the mine that is right on the outskirts of the city (ie: on the way to Calgary)? Hope everyone gets out ok!

Yes, on hwy 7. They're over 1000 meters down at that mine so that would suck to be stuck for sure.

There's no real reports yet other than what I mentioned already as they have not established contact yet. Even so they claim they can confirm that all miners are in the refuge station. I'm just not sure how they do that if they can't contact them but I don't work in a mine. :dunno:

Yes, it turned out to be an equipment fire and ultimately everyone came out just fine. Was tense for awhile though as nobody on the surface knew what had happened down there other than there was smoke in the shaft and then no further contact.

That's okay, I'd much rather it be a minor incident than a major issue!
