40k budget and I have no strong feelings about anything in that price range

Must be a 4dr and be bigger than her current Jetta.

She's looking at a Volvo S60 right now and she wants to stay european.

The Volvo for sure, anything mercedes in that price range sucks.

BTW, the new LPT (2.5) is even better than the T5 in my car. The S60 LPT starts at 41 grand

The S4 is available from 2000 to 2002 only. Yes, it's powerful and great for winter but definitely NOT light! :D

There are older S4's than 2000.

But not Model Year 1999 in North America.

You're thinking of the 1992 to 1994 S4.

Not too shabby. Stock figures 0 to 60 in 6.2 s and 1/4 mi in 14.9 s. They have an inline 5-cylinder turbo that's pretty robust.

More info on old Audis.

Must be an S6 of your customer's neighbor. The RS6 is new and will be imported to the US but none to Canada. It's got a 450 HP biturbo V8!!!

I read that quote but for 40 G your not going to get any kind of benz and Volvos aren't all that fantastic. especially the ones for 40G Not to say the G35 is all that great but it does give you alot for the price and I Just thought that an option might be helpful.

how much does the s60R cost?

Hmm..European and bigger than her Jetta...

S60R is roomy...the A4 rear is a little tight and overall isn't too much bigger than the Jetta. Passat maybe?

For 40g, you're not going to get a very roomy car if she's looking at the upscale european models. If she goes Japanese, there are lots to choose from.

MB isn't worth looking at for less the 40g.
BMW you don't want.
Audi A4 would be a good choice, but it's not all that much bigger then a jetta.
Jag X type is a classy car but would be a bit over 40 canadian i think.
VW Passat? Bigger then the Jetta anyways, really the only option besides the volvo I think if your stuck on Euros.

Get your mom to check out the G35s. You never know, she may like it, and you can't beat its value.
