I have these on my 03 TL-S. Are they alright for the Calgary winters?

They are rated all-season/high performance, as long as you dont go to the moutains and have some sort of traction control, which the TL does, then you will be fine.

no better or worse than your average high performance all season tire. and i don't know what mountains have to do with calgary winters??

I was just implying that he would be more than fine within the city.

I've had the 512s on my car now for a couple winters and they work fine. I've never been stuck with them. I've gone to ski hills and such, done a bunch of highway driving in storms. However, if you drive them like performance tires in the summer, they won't be so good in the winter. Once the corners start rounding, you're screwed. Trust me.

If you are concerned with winter driving, go with winter tires. any tire expert will tell you that in Canada, there are no such thing as all season tires.. just 3 season tires. Once you have winter tires, youll never go back to all seasons....

Yeah I might just do that. Get some summer rims, and winter tires.

512's aren't bad in the winter if you dont drive like a goof. I drove on them last winter without traction control and did fine in most places, did have to turn around on some hills that were too big but that was my fault for deciding to drive through an assload of snow when I could have just stayed at home.

I put them on my prelude last winter. and wow I was suprised with how well they did in the winter. My bridgestone re92's were nothing compared to them when it came to handling.

Not bad for an all season imo

It's surprisingly good...when I put on a brand new set on my Accord, I drove to Vancouver through winter. It was crazy snow in the mountains and I survived...haha

Its slippery but drive carefully...and it stops quite well:thumbsup:
