I have a lot of tiles, looks like marble but it is something else, and I almost have enough left over from the kitchen to do the movie room. Is this a good idea? Is tile any good for acoustics or will I get an echo or something?

tile is one of the worse building materials you can use for acoustics, even hardwood is not great. Throw an area rug over the tile if need be. But it's all relative depending on how picky you are on sound quality.

I was actually looking at cork, I was thinking of tile though because the t.v room needs some flooring and I have so much extra tile.

Thanks for the info though, tile is out.
