Ticket confusion

So I received a nice picture of the back of my car yesterday, I know when it was and worked out that I was in the wrong, this isnt a bitch thread. My question is about the appearance date. I'm confused about whether or not I have to appear. On th front of the yellow ticket it seems like I have to appear in court whether or not I want to plead guilty. Then on the back it seems like I dont have to appear if i pay the fine before the date. Anybody know the dealio with these tickets? It's a yellow "part 3 offence notice"

you are not REQUIRED to appear unless you want to plead not guilty. The only ticked you MUST appear for afaik, is a pink ticket.

if you dont pay the fine by that date tho, they will tack on a charge of an extra 20$ or something, i forget.

sweet, that's what I thought, but as they say assumption is the mother of all fuck ups so I didn't want to guess that I didnt and then have a warrant issued for failure to appear.
