Well, one thing you guys have to realize is that this engine can be tested in the car.
You can compression test it, check the transmission(see if it grinds) and most importantly DRIVE IT.
Even if other company give warranty on the product, they do not cover:
-accessories (alternator, p/s pump, a/c pump etc.)
-most don't cover transmission
You will not know if an engine has rod knock, or a bad transmission until you actually get it running. (Unless of course you open up the oil pan to inspect the bearings)
Even if they warranty the engine, you have to remove the engine and replace it with the new one. That is lost labour, or if you have someone else installing it, extra money out of your pocket.
What an engine like this will give you is PIECE OF MIND.
For most people that is easily worth the $200-500 extra that this is.
Anyway, just want to put my 2 cents. Good luck with the sale.
