I told my drummer buddy about that and he said it is less physically demanding to go side to side like that then straight up and down. Its an unnatural motion but you can play like that way longer, apparently. Thats how he can play straight 16s at 250bpm (hands and feet) for entire songs I guess :D

yeah thats crazy shit. 250BPM is fantastic. My feet suck so bad.. I'm just not built to be a grind drummer :( But I love it so much so i'll keep practicing lol.
