use a regular jack, and put it under the transmission?

id imagine that trying to balance a bumpy lumpy chunk of unevenly weighted metal on the top of a jack would be somewhat precarious at best. last thing i need is to have it fall off and break my foot ... or worse, break the trans haha

I know they sell transmission adapters for regular floor jacks, princess auto usually has them cheap enough.

when I pulled my tranny out, I used a 2x6, and a jack in a very creative setup. :)

Ratchet straps work well too.

Now I just pull the whole motor out. Takes less time.
