Yeah automakers will probably have these on new cars sooner or later. Its just as safe as the regular cap apparently.

Stupid useless invention IMO. Saves you 0.2 seconds when filling up. Lame.

If you can't manage to remember your gas cap, you shouldn't be driving.

It also prevents idiots from leaving their gas cap off. Not lame.

what keeps the dirt out of the hole? seems stupid to me if dirt can collect in there and then falls in when you stick the nozzle in... :dunno:

That's what the string that ties the cap to the car is for. My dad lost his cap in the middle of driving across the US. That's what he gets for buying a Hyundai - no string on the gas cap! :D

I don't have a string on my gas cap, but I don't have a tattoo on my arm that says 'keep breathing'.

i need it for a different reason...theres rust around the inlet of my gas tank...so i figure if u clean off the rust and protect it with something, then jus put this on i wont have to worry about gas getting on the anti rust protection and dissolving it into the gas tank....i figure its a good idea?

the ford system has nothing to do with losing the gas cap. on newer cars, if you don't tighten the gas cap all the way (3 clicks) it will mess with the emissions system because there needs to be a vacuum in the headspace of the gas tank. if there isn't this will lead to a CEL. also, whenever your gas cap isn't on you get evaporative loss which contributes to emissions.

Obviously though it's so the thief doesn't forget to put the cap back on after he siphons it.

What kind of idiot do you have to be to forget to put your gas cap back on after you fill up?

Do you forget to take it off beforehand too?

This isn't targeted at anyone in particular, I just find it funny that there's a demand for a product like this.

Look who's selling it... does anything else really need to be said?

Women, duh

I saw a girl riding in a pontiac a couple days ago and there was gas splashing out of her gas nozzle as she was turning left on an intersection. I wonder what kinda gas mileage she gets.

It's a convenience tool that saves a little time. I can see it being usefull if you were gasing up 10 times a day, but if you're doing that you should buy a new car. While I have never forgotten my gas cap, it has crossed my mind a few times when gassing up that I'm going to forget it so I might try it out just for the hell of it.

Good call...

As for the dirt issue, I would bu suprised if there was not some sort of synthetic stretchy filter fabric in the bottom of the spout. That would be smart.

Another useful invention from the place that brought us hubcap spinners and chrome wiperblades.

wow, because that wasn't sexist at all.. (and yes, I have plastic string on my gas cap... what?! it came factory).. obviously, they're aiming it towards nascar fans so they could be just like the drivers.. just another random doohickey to slap on their neons along with the dale earndhart sticker that occupies the side of their vehicle... just more for the potato rocket variety
