Brilliant! 1000kgs, RWD, 120HP and I'm sure TRD will offer a nice blower for it!

Best of all about 12,500USD. SOLD

damn still going to be so slow, now if it was 180hp then damn! that would be fun, but 120hp is sooo slow, even if it is 1000kg, mine is 1100kg and ~150hp or so and its still slow so my car would be the same weight as that with a fat friend in the passanger seat

When. All I need to know is when, is there a waiting list? lol. This is good, toyota taking some initiative towards making "interesting" cars

The recipe for the AE86 was a well sorted out chassis, cheap to buy, and a reliable engine. HP was never on the list, kinda like the civic.

It seems like toyota is trying to shed its vanilla image after all.

i'm sorry but how the hell is a 120hp car going to shred toyotas vanilla image?
if it wasn't for the cartoons an ae86 would be nothing special here.

By penetrating the youth market again. For that kinda money what other options do you have? yaris, fit, a hyundai.

Not everyone has 60 or 70k to buy a M3...

lol im just curious why its like zomg

Isn't that the point of scion? for theyouth market and toyota/lexus can concentrate on the baby boomers?

but yea it is a cool car for 12.5k but i dont think its going to dramatically change toyota.

if there is a turbo kit that puts this at 200-220 hp it will make a quick little car

I don't know, as a young male, I like sporty cars, but I just don't see a FWD car as sporty, period. My cars are 16, and 24 years old. Why? Because Toyota made cool cars back then. If Toyota released a small, light, cheap RWD car, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Think about it, what if for the next model year, they put out a Corolla GT-S with a 2ZZ under the hood? That would be a pretty potent little car.

well I agree it will not change Toyota overnight, but it is a step in the right direction. Plus Toyota has already won over baby boomers with the Camry, its the number one selling car in the US.

a paseo with RWD.

I wouldn't mind this car as an alternative to a civic/lancer. However I could see Toyota Canada putting a ridiculous price tag on this car though. I can't see it being priced cheaper than a Yaris.

People need to realize that Toyota is at the top of there game selling more cars then any other manufacture in Canada,

This is because most people don't want a sporty car, they want a practical car such as a Prius or a Rav4.

Also Toyota has sort of released a sport car in co-operation with lotus and again there are not selling even half as fast as the Yaris.

Companies such as honda are realizing that they will sell thousands of Civics for every S2000. It makes more business sense to stop carrying sport cars all together.

That thing looks awesome - someone at Toyota decided to step it up in the style department, that's for sure. I hope this car turns out great!

This is a rear wheel drive car!

The boys at Subaru are apparently teaming up with Toyota for the RWD drivetrain.

I know that. I'm saying that if they market it, there are people that will buy them, like me.

They offer that here for around 15k, I'll snap it up faster than a fat kid eating a skittle.

As for the 120hp, who gives a shit, its soo cheap you'd have loads of spare money to sink into it.

Not sure if that's sarcasm meaning the price should be cheaper or sarcasm towards the fact that even with a high dollar there is HUGE disparity between U.S and Canadian pricing.

Mr_ET

sarcasm because they need to readjust prices now that our dollar is almost on par with the USD.

I think that not having a youth appealling sports car will hurt toyota eventually. Today's youth are tomorrow's SUV,Sedan, and Minivan buying families, and if they're being drawn towards Mazda, Nissan, Honda, and even GM for sporty, cheap, youth oriented cars they're probalby much more likely to continue with that brand for their subsequent purchases. It may not be big dollar values, or push huge numbers for toyota but it brings more people into the toyta fold. I would agree with all the sentiment out there, as far as i'm concerned Toyota's lineup is uninspired and expensive there is nothing that would get met into a Toyota showroom right now, not even to test drive.

I wish it was more angular.

At that price, it's still tempting, getting all the benefits of buying a brand new car. (Warranty? What the fuck is that?)

But honestly, I'm impractical. I'd rather spend the $15k finding a minty Supra and sinking money into a 7m or 1jz swap.

I can't see that car (if it even exists) selling for 15k. The base Yaris with zero options is 15k+, and its as basic as you can get.

When Toyota purchased shares in Subaru the press release stated that FHI would produce a compact car for Toyota in the near future. This could very well be it. And it could very well hit Canada under the Scion brand, who may be launching in Canada in 2 years...

The silver one is sexy!! The rear on the red one reminds me of a celica. I don't think it looks that great... :dunno:

Nice work on the ads.

We're shipping out 1984-86 AE86s "Levin" to Ireland. Ones in very poor condition are still being sold for 300-400,000yen (about 3-4,000bucks) at auction. One of our clients buys them, repairs them really well, and re-sells them.

Contact me at [email protected] if you'd like to see some pics of the Levins we send to Ireland.

If you know closely, that's a chopped Civic Coupe. I guess they don't get that in Japan so it goes unnoticed.
