Hi all,

Just in the market now for a central vac, can anyone recommend a place and product? I am looking for a higher end once since my house is 2500+ sqft. I've had a Vacu Maid before and really like that but just wanted to hear other opinions. I know Trail carries Vacu Flow and Costco has the hoover for cheap but I'm looking for something good, not necessarily cheap. I'd also look for someone to install too. Thanks.

Were looking for something (prefferably in SS) as well.

I've always had electrolux and never had an issue with them.

we had a Kenmore (Sears) system and it worked really well, i think we had it for like 7 years in our old house and it was still running strong.

What's the warranty on the Kenmore system? I do like sears products because if anything does go wrong during the warranty period, then they provide excellent service and warranty. I wouldn't have to worry about it being serviced by Joe's Vac Shop or something like that.

:werd:

Kenmore makes really really good quality products. My parents had a Kenmore fridge, washer and dryer....fockers are like 30+ in age and still work well.

We have Kenmore Vacuflow system at home, been sucking strong for 10+ years now.

Looks like I'm going to be paying a visit to Sears.

Doing the install is VERY easy for one of these systems,

I use to assemble, repair and install all types of central vacs, so long as you have the drops already in, it is just a matter of placing the pipe. As for what type of Vac you want, depends on if you want a filter or not, how powerfull you want it, for 2500 SF, go for a lift factor of 60 pounds.

For one of the best in the industry go with Dynovac www.dynovac.ca

These systems rock, east to use, no filter, runs cyclonic, and an excellent warranty, little higher in price, but well worth it.

btw a case of beer and i will help you install it. I will even go so far as to come over and let you know exactly what you need for parts.

BUMP!
was looking to buy a central vac and was considering this one from Costco:
http://www.costco.ca/Husky-Pro-Wet-and-Dry-Central-Vacuum-with-Accessory-Kit---1%2c858-m%C2%B2-%2820%2c000-ft%C2%B2%29%2c-220-240V-.product.100125487.html

Any experience with Husky? and anyone installed one themselves or is it better to pay for the installation if a house is already roughed in for central vac?

Installation is easy if it is roughed in (unless you buy a unit that needs to vented to the outside). If it has to be a vented a little more work.

If it's a non venting unit basically you just need to mount the unit, connect a couple wires (at unit and outlets) and then close of the roughed in pipes in the basement/garage.

I just blocked off all my central vac outlets. We find the new canister vacs better and less hard on your baseboards and easier all around :dunno:
