Need iPod guru

So this Ipod came with my new vehicle. It was working on the way home, so I thought all was good. Came and installed I-Tunes on my comp, and then plugged the Ipod in. It then told me to restore it or whatever, so I did since I was planning on filling it with my own music anyways. So something went wrong in there. My computer (and tried on another comp) keeps saying it cant recognize the USB device. So I went to try and plug it into the truck again, but it wont do anything, except flash from the Apple logo to a folder with an exclmation mark.
Any ideas? I would really like this thing to work!

do a reset

- put hold on
- take hold off
- hold top and centre button for a couple seconds

Tried that no luck, I think I might have killed it lol

try pushing menu and the white middle button simultaneously

mine did that then i opened it up and cleaned it and now works fine... check the apple site there is tons of suggestions
