So I still have my original G2 engine, it has really low mileage, I know the entire history and I already have a decent amount of mods. What I dont have and am going to be getting this winter is LSD, standalone and 800cc injectors. Should I get a g3 and just build that up or stick with my g2 since Im continuing to mod past the g3s stock capabilities?

if you plan to go over 300 rwhp i would just stick with gen 2. the parts are cheaper and more plentiful plus at that point you are changing out all the stuff that makes the Gen 3 better.

yea if you're going 800cc and standlone, def stay with the gen2.

man, thats a hard call. it would make logical sense to keep the 2g... but then again i was over at pulse_crx's place the other day and saw his 3g that he is swapping and its like sex on wheels.

dont' get me wrong. I have a G3. But i find that if you're building for HUGE power. teh G2 would be better i think.

g2 for power,

g3 for stock and bpu
plus gen3 parts are slightly harder to come by

I agree with every thing every body here. Wow is it rare that we get this much agreement on any thing.

Start looking around for some used 264 cams. They are fairly cheap used and you will be surprised at how much better it makes the gen2 engine breath. It's like blowing your nose when you got a bad cold.

Would you go staggered on the cams or just 264 for intake and exh?

staggered gives you a slightly more lumpy idle.

264 for both. If you breath in you have to exhale.

the gains of the staggered setup are negligible
