Contact the person whose name is on the business card, ask if they saw it happen, if yes, contact the police and issue a hit & run report. Also tell the police you want the driver charged with Hit & run and you have a witness to the incident.

Also report it to the insurance company with the information you have and the incident report number from the police. In most cases they will find out the other parties insurance company and put a claim in against them.

Well, seeing that it's a business card number, maybe that's the office number. At least give it a fair chance and wait 24 hours after leaving a voice mail.

Report it to insurance and the cops. Give them the info and let them straighten it out. Hopefully one or both of the notes was someone honest and correct on the info.

The business card # or the 555-5555 #? Im thinking the 555 # is obviously fake and they just wanted to make it look like they were leaving you a proper note in the case of a witness. Call the business card # and get some more info from the witness and call the police.

yea i think there is a lot of misunderstanding here. i think some guy hit your car and left you a note saying "i hit your car 555-5555" and then some guy who witnessed it wrote down his plate number and info and then left that on a card so you would have more details, which is pretty cool of him or her. correct me if i am wrong?

That's what I got from it. It sounds like the ass who hit you wrote down the wrong information and someone else (a witness, maybe) gave the correct information.

actually a similar thing happen to my mom and the police didn't really help, and also the witness wasn't too much of a help as to he was pretty busy. yea I think the 555 # is probably fake.

I think he put 555-5555 so as not to reveil the real phone number (op's discretion).

If the info is 100% CORRECT, then no it would not be a chargeable hit and run. Would still be a claim, still be his fault yadda yadda yadda.
