Hey all sorry for creating a another thread. I was thinking of posting this under Jaymez STI importing from the U.S thread but as this is a different situation i thought i'd just do my own thing.
Anyway i was wondering, i have an opportunity to bring a JDM 96 Integra Type-R up to Calgary. My question is since it's landed and registered in the states would i be able to bring it across the border and register it in calgary or is it still illegal and need to fall under the 15 year old rule?
Thanks for any info you guys can tell me

It might be legal. Is it on the approved import list?

It's not legal. It won't be on the approved list. End of discussion.

Yup defiantly not legal. You can only IMPORT a car once...

So Japan - Canada = GOOD
Japan - US - CAnada = BAD

That would be entirely correct. Why, it makes perfect logical sense!

perhaps the 15 year rule makes the difference

You can import/export cars as many times as you like. We have strict rules in Canada for import. This case has nothing to do with how many times it's imported/exported, just the fact that cars newer than 15 years must be RIV approved, which at a minimum, means a US car originally certified for the US market. JDM cars are not RIVed approved, originally certified for JDM market, and regardless if they're "legal" in the states or how many times it's been imported, it won't be allowed here.

I think this was brought up along time ago with someone wanting to import a JDM car from the U.S.
