Thoughts on the w124 benz

I am thinking of importing a w124 230E or CE from Japan. Anybody have experience with the 230E, it being a 4 cylinder is why I want it, anyone know anything about these 4 cylinder MB's?

Is it better to get a 300

my 300 is slower than Lindsey Lohan, the 230 would be ridiculous. 300CE 12v or 24v at least. Don't waste your money on a 4000lb car powered by a weak 4 banger.

That's true, Im not looking for power, more for fuel economy but I've always loved the look of those w124's. How is your 300 fuel economy wise?

Mine's fine, 400km to the tank in the city and 650(!!!) on the highway.

As for fuel economy, you are going to need a heavier foot to drive a 230 like I drive mine (not crazy just not grandma) and it will use the same amount of fuel in the long run.

I am buying a 500E though so I obviously don't care about mileage haha

How much HP does your model have mark? It's more than 170 isn't it? Mine pulls pretty good, especially on highways. I can't imagine and 4 banger in this body though. :eek:

It seems if you were to get one from Japan you're basically spending $3k+ to ship a $2500 car that you can't inspect.

I would hold out for a US 500E myself. It's a lot more ballin' for only a little more money (No offence to Zorro and Hak)

I owned a W124 from Japan its was the rarer 24V 3.0L the car was quick once it was moving 200km+ on the highway it was a fun car ..miss it alot !!

As for Tentacles 500E comment, he is right, they are hot...that's why I am looking for one but you will pay WAYYYYY more than a 230, 300, 320 or even 400 or 420...

They still pull $20K, don't mislead.

60 litres I think. I get close to the same mileage as Zorro.

With my bolt-ons, probably 185ish...It's not a bad car, pulls great once moving but it's no dragster...
