Okay well i just recently sold my e36 bmw, time to move onto bigger and better things.

I am looking at a couple of different cars, I want something European or Japanese, with the exeption of one american car that I am looking into. Note- the car will pre-owned.

If you had a price range between $25,000-40,000 what kind of car would be your top choice and why?

I will more then likely be purchasing from the states..As of right now, my top choice is the e46 m3.

If anyone has any of the cars on my poll, please let me know your overall view on the car.

I voted for the Cadi. I just think they look great, good power, and practical.

Wondering why the Scion TC is up there?

I would have voted M3 but IMO you see way to many around here (yes i know they are pretty).

I have always liked the look of the tc, plus its the only car on that list that i would be able to buy brand new, and you don't see very many up here.. (not yet at least)

The G35's are awesome IMO.:hitit: and I think a little more practical than the 350z. I currently drive a 240/silvia, but a buddy of mine just bought a 2003 350z in orange colour for 29000 with only 26,500 kms on it. He's still learnin how to drive stick so I had to drive it home for him :poosie:

hehe...I was nice tho...didn't rev it too much. However, both the 350 and the g35 are way tooo common now in calgary. (although the fact that my buddy has an orange 350 makes it much less common of a car)

I think the IS350 would be a good choice (brand new I guess since they just changed the design of the IS lineup last year)....I believe it has about same power as the g35, and they'r eboth pretty similar, but the is350 looks nicer...more classy. Too bad they don't come in 2 doors...but they come in 6spd man :)

I am not a big fan of the g37 tho...they took away too many of those rough edges that made it look so nice in the first place!

Now down to the bottom line....anything that blows you away when you first accelerate and and corner in...you should get :burnout:

i dont live in calgary or edmonton so i feel more like a :bigpimp:
when a million other people in the city don't have the same car as me

so i wont have to worry about seeing multiple m3's 350z's ect all over the place.. there are some but when i get to calgary everybody seems to be driving a nice ass car:burnout:

I only take it that you mostly want a switch up, since you have no problem with RWD and want nothing less than a BMW,

stick with M3 or G35/7 being M3 as a step up G35/350z as in something different.

You don't see them, cuz you can't register them in Canada.

A regular CTS is significantly worse than anything else on your list in my opinion - I wouldn't even be looking there.

Anyways, my suggestion would be a 2002 Porsche Carrera from the states. It would be a little over $40k imported. 2002 started the 996 body style and made improvements to performance, relibility and chassis. Additionally the engine went from 3.4L to 3.6L. My next car will be a 2002 Carrera C4S from the states, but probably not for another year or so. They are just so much cheaper than in Cagary.

If you don't like the Porsche idea, the M3 is my second choice as well as the S4. S4 has a V8, AWD, and 4 doors so would be the better choice if practicality is an issue. Also anything with a build date in the S4 after November 2003 solved all the initial reliability issues and they are pretty solid cars from then on.

Oh, and I would also add a 2000-2003 BMW M5 to the list unless you've already ruled it out. Same with a 2005+ Mercedes C55 AMG.

all are pretty nice cars minus these two (Scion TC, Cadillac CTS) IMO but to this day I still want a Nissan 350Z, so my vote goes there

Is this a summer car? or year round? If it's summer only, I would deff get the 350z, I don't care how many there are, they're just pure sex... if it were year round, I would probably pick the g35, or the audi S4... AWD FTW

wtf?? How does the g35 make winter driving any better than the 350z? they're the same car. Same engine and all. Only thing that would make the g35 any better is if he got the g35x. But he is not.

I'm sure he was thinking of G35x when he made the AWD comment. Also, if you've ever drive na 2wd G35 in the winter, they are basically impossible to spin out, have excellent traction/stability control and have decent ground clearance. I haven't tried a 350Z, but I would happily drive a G35 in the winter.

I would go for the B6 S4.

I will post a reason why after or if I forget just take my advise and go test drive one :burnout:

The G35s are awesome in the winter with good winter tires...way better than any FWD I have driven.

If you are buying from the US, you have to stay away from the honda/acura as there is no warranty. My vote is for the G35 or M3...the Gs are pretty sweet cars

Check out my G35 for sale if you want...full warranty and its already fully inspected and certified for Canada...very nice car.

I'd lean more towards the S4 than, say a CTS or an M3. I was actually remarking about this to my wife yesterday, saying that the BMW's are becoming so prevalent, they seem to be the new Civic. There just seems to be so many of them out there, it's harder and harder to be unique in something like that. The CTS, the only way I'd go with something like that is if it were the CTS-V. Otherwise I don't think the fun-factor is there with the smaller engine.

But the S4, with the luxury/sporty image of the newer Audi's, . Of course all of this is just my opinion though.

If your looking at the G37, wait a year. I haven't even had my '07 G35x for 3 months now and there has been so many little issues with it. I am definitely not in love with it, just wish there was something else that fit the bill at the time...

That's a long list man. I would try to find the best deal you can on any one of them because if you get bored, flip it and move on to the next one.

I would import the M3.

Import an M3
they're so tight, and yes their is a lot of them in Calgary, but if you're in Lethy, who cares!!?
