FYI:

Posse of Ferraris suspected in dangerous driving case
Gwendolyn Richards, Calgary Herald
Published: Monday, August 13, 2007
Five luxury car drivers are being investigated for speeding and dangerous driving.

High River RCMP are looking into a report four Ferraris and a Lamborghini were speeding more than 200 kilometres per hour on Highway 22 by Highway 540 yesterday.

The investigation is still underway and officers are calling on anyone who may have seen the luxury vehicles on Sunday to contact them.

It's 7 am and a few farmers (small town folk) witnessed 5 exotics driving fast on a highway. They MUST have been doing 200 or so. :banghead:

Even if they were driving in excess of those speeds it doesn't make it right. But man would I love to see that!

I feel only a little bad and hypocritical that if it were 5 wiggers in their cut coil civics, with fart can exhausts and krylon highlit interior chunks, that I wish the full extent of the law upon them.

But it's something else to video it and post it up for the whole frickin world to see!!
Dumbasses! probably not much to say when the prosecutor plays a video with your smilin face in it waving to the camera...

I'm no expert, but the police are basing their investigation on complaints from locals and youtube videos. I was pretty sure you had to be caught in the act by Police to have something as serious as losing your licence.

That said, if you can get a DUI and buy your way out of it (I went to Springbank Highschool so I know quite a few that have), I'm pretty sure you could buy your way out of a dangerous driving ticket.

2nd guy - Uhhh....I dunno, never done it the speed limit is 110.

Ya, problem is the cops know about that road now, and it was never closed, that's why the RCMP is investigating and will probably lay charges now that it's such a public story. There's tons of things that are identifyable in that video, even tho the guy editing the video blurred out the roadsigns.

Hey, at least ZR is getting tons of free press lol.

I can''t wait to find where they are doing there next speed run and pass them all in the TT G35.
I never understood why they would post any video with visible plates and pics of the speedo.
There was a video of a lambo in toronto doing almost 300K, He posted the video and was charged with dangerous driving etc.
Stupid regardless of your stealership Driving like that is for the track. Why not take your 5 cars to the states for a closed track day?

the yellow gallardo is my neighbours, i love seein him and the zr guys driving ferraris and lambo's like they should be driven, even when its like raining and shit and im thinkin meh i dun wanna get the teg dirty and i hear the gallardo come screamin down the street.

I do agree with rage though, im not too sure about the video's with faces speedo's etc, seems too showy to me

in either case good for them, they have nice cars and enjoy them ... especially when the cops arent around

Because there's not enough road to do a top speed run :). Public roads are the only place you can get anywhere near top speed, since it takes about 3.5kms for an Enzo to reach 320km/h, and that's not top speed either. To hit top speed you'd need a good 5km stretch with lots of room to slow down hehe.

Race City's front straight is only 0.5 miles long. There's much safer (and better) roads in Montana to do top speed runs IMO. You can literally drive for 10 mins at top speed with no acerages, farms, traffic, or any other human being in Montana. Plus the roads are a lot smoother, and in the off chance that you do get busted, it's pretty much only a fine :).

And these guys can film themself doing it and admitting it and probably wont even get their licenses taken away.

Believe it or not, some of us on here (i.e., probably those who arn't in puberty and don't pimp 100hp shit boxes like they're king shit) don't feel the need to drive like asses and endanger ourselves/others.

My track car is good for 0-100 in about 2 1/2 seconds (if I can get traction, and that's a bigggggggg if); the fastest I've been on Deerfoot has been 115. I don't feel the need to try to hurt myself; anything that fast can bite you in the ass just as quickly.

But to understand this not only would you need a fast car, but also some level of maturity, which you (and others in this thread) clearly lack. :thumbsdow

videotaping it is fine, posting it on the internet for the world to see including the cops is a bonehead move.

kinda funny......but if you have that car wouldn't you be tempted to full throttle it ?

don't be haters for the people who can afford the exotics. Highway is better than the city limits.

i'll just wait for the outcome of the investigation........sweet 339 km/h ....... now thats speed.....

I detest how the media glorifies and stretches truth in order to grab attention of society.

Nobody was "arrested." They were detained for questioning. BIG difference. It states in the report that "no charges have been laid."

Media FTL :thumbsdow

thats why i bought a golf instead of a lambo - it doesn't stand out as much, then going over 200 isn't as noticeable to the public eye, and besides, there are tons of golfs in AB, gl finding the right one ahah ;)

I was thinking the same thing when reading the articles on this subject too.

So what legal ground can the cops charge Zahir using that video? It isn't even recorded on the date of the complaints. It was filmed in October.

you my friend need to grow a pair, driving fast is alot of fun, regardless of the risk - and im sure its not just me who feels the need to drive fast more than once a week at race city. Also i find it ironic that your name is 2EFNFAST ... not that this is a personal attack or anthing, i just think you really dont understand what a fast car is all about - even Enzo Ferrari said he detested his customers because they wouldnt buy and use the cars to the limits of their performance ...

I'm no expert, but the police are basing their investigation on complaints from locals and youtube videos. I was pretty sure you had to be caught in the act by Police to have something as serious as losing your licence.

I believe that when it comes to charges of this nature (dangerous driving), etc. it is then up to the registered owner of the vehicle to prove that they were not behind the wheel....vs. lesser charges where they have to catch you in the act.

Can you imagine being at an Enzo meet and having a conversation with another owner.

1st guy - So, how did it feel hitting 330kph for the first time?

2nd guy - Uhhh....I dunno, never done it the speed limit is 110.

Everyone within earshot - "  "

Owner of Ferrari - "Can I have your keys please, we'll send you a refund for your purchase price in the mail in six to eight weeks.

LOL the truth straight up!

Even if Zahir is charged, he'll show up with some high priced lawyer who will just make a mockery of the whole situation anyways.

Most of the news on the radio comes from reading the papers. So they probably saw the CBC headline about them getting arrested.
