Got some wax on the black plastic (or rubber?) mudflaps. What's the best way to remove it?

Warning: Don’t let any wax touch rubber moldings or plastic trim pieces, as it is difficult to remove once dry.
A small amount of lacquer thinner on a clean rag usually works; be sure not to let it touch any painted surfaces.

The best way to remove wax from vinyl or rubber is to use #39 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner. #39 breaks down the dry wax residue, revealing your vinyl's natural color. If you can't find #39, any all-purpose cleaner (e.g. Simple Green) also will do the job. Agitating the cleaner by gently scrubbing the surface with a soft bristle brush can help break up the wax. Once you have cleaned the vinyl or rubber, bring back the full depth of its natural color and help protect it with #40 Vinyl and Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner.

I recently removed a ton wax residue from the black trim around my car. No chemicals, nothing harsh. I used a simple white eraser. Worked like a charm! Try it out on a small out of the way spot and see if it works. Beats using harsh chemicals.

I used Mothers Back to Black and it worked for a while....basically until a car wash or rain.

Holy shit, that works like a charm! Thanks Akagi. Good old Staedler erasers.

Glad to see it worked! Depends on the trim as well. I know with my really soft black trim (around my windows) it doesn't work. But wax doesn't ever get there so I am safe.

You even used the same brand as I did (loved those erasers in drafting class). :)
