just for clarification, BFT stands for BIG FUCKING TRUCK.

Was coming from the NE, when i saw a BIG looking vehicle quite a bit ahead of me... decided to pull out the phone and take some pictures. It was pretty intense cause i had no more room on my phone so i had to drive, browse and delete some old pictures. Spotted on 16th, nearby SAIT. I'm not gonna lie, i've never seen anything like this ever before... it was RIDICULOUS. Anyone seen this around? Look at one of the pictures.. it has a "full sized truck" in it, beside the BEAST. That will give you a better idea of how big this actually was... wow.

Frick, just what we need BIGGER TRUCKS! I saw a yellow one today on the way home from work. The funny thing was it had a tonneau cover over the bed so I'm thinking a 5th wheel is out of the question...... As if the H1 wasn't big enough.
Here's what it looked like:

It sort of is; vehicles of that size are over the weight limit for most city roads and are covered by the Truck Bylaw; anything with a GVW of over 5450 kg is deemed a Truck in the city of Calgary and must keep to truck routes and cannot be stored legally at a private home in the city.

This one would probably be fine as its from out of town, but locals buying one of those trucks would probably eventually run afoul of a bylaw enforcement guy.

Something that size should require more than a class 5 though, I agree; larger motorhomes should require a class 3 or 2 IMHO as well.

I'm pretty sure those BFT's have air brakes (like semi's) so you'd need the air brake endorsement with your normal license. The black one is a Ford F-650 I think and the yellow one is an International CXT. They're always FS in the DuPont Registry mags....

Not much, I think around $80 g's US haha. I think you can get the F-650's in different models i.e. SUV (body kinda resembles an Excursion), a 4dr crewcab p/u and a 6dr crewcab p/u....

Most likely these things are running on diesel so it wouldn't be AS bad as running on unleaded....

Semi's have a purpose to transport goods - BFT's don't appear to.

This is what happens when you give rig pigs too much money.

If that is what you are worried about buy a bigger vehicle. These BFT's aren't the only large vehicles on the road :dunno: semi's, buses, campers, vans, etc etc etc

finboy
08-17-2007, 03:03 PM
most bigger vehicles like semi's and busses, are driven by people who are professionals, and drive them for hours on end day after day. the average driver of one of these abominations would likely be someone who "needs to have the biggest truck"

i get rear ended by a car or smaller suv even if i'm at a dead stop, and they are going 50-60, i might get whiplash but i'll be alright. i get hit from behind, around the same speed, by basically a semi with someone used to driving a regular vehicle and i'm UNDER the truck. accidents happen, but giving people bigger and bigger toys to get into accidents with is going to cause greater injuries.

a kia going 160 could kill people, but knock that speed back down to something legal, like under 100 and you have a hell of a better chance dieing if your bone stock car isn't even as tall as the tire of the truck, and is outweighed 5 or 6 times.

Have you seen some of the horse trailers chuckwagon drivers and what not use? They are the same size as a semi-trailer, I don't think a normal truck can pull those...

I have also seen trucks like this outfitted with sleepers and stuff on the back like a semi, which you probably won't find on any normal trucks anytime soon...
