Do antenna boosters work?

I'm talking ones for cell phones. I get crap reception at my house, so I'm thinking of getting one of those seen-on-tv ones for like $5 or whatever they cost. Does anyone know if these things work?

they work, but barely
and if you touch it in certain places when putting it on it doesnt work so u have to be pretty careful.
