Hey guys,

Just wondering if any of you have hook ups to get cheap computer moniters? Looking for a good quality 21''.

Damn moniters are so expensive! :(

A decent 21" is gonna cost you $1200... $1k if you're lucky.

You might want to consider a 19"(or even two) since they're half the price.

sometimes Dell has some good deal on monitors that used to be leased out... like a week ago they like a whole bunch of 22 inch flat screen ( not LCD, but flat, using likethe sony tube or something) for sale for like 299.99.. very good deal, i almost bought one myself, but it was sold out by the time i found out about it and got an account set up

Considering a good 19" is in the 600's...

A cheap 21" monitor will look an awful lot worse than a cheap 19"

You don't want to skimp on your monitor - after all it's what you look at all the time.

i totally agree with bol, your computer monitor is definitely something u wanna invest a little bit more into. you'll be looking at it all the time, if u cheap out, u'll end up being pissed all the time cause the picture quality isn't sharp, or u can't get it bright enough, and just a whole slew of problems. definitely get a good monitor you won't regret it.

Yeah, that's what I hear :) You get what you pay for. Heh :)

You might want to check out the Syncmaster 900NF or 955DF. They're pretty popular 19"ers. The 900 is $500 and the 955 is ~$400. As I mentioned above a good 21" is going to cost you at least $1000 (then again, I am a Sony monitor whore. The FD Trinitron cannot be beat!)

Evan

I have a 19'' Trinitron right now, but it came with my system. I am gonna build my own PC and want another Trinitron, but dont really know how much they go for :(

The G410R is about $620... 19" FD Trini. Oh yeah.

I'm probably going to get two of them :nut:

That's the standard price at pretty much any where. Memory Express, FireStorm, etc.

They only come in white afaik.

haha its not that bad, 2x 17inch monitors is a lot of screen space already, and not too expensive to set up.

I am really into gaming. I at least want a 19 or 21 inch running 1024x768 or higher.

1024x768 on a 21" monitor, what a waste! :) Pick up a pair of 19" monitors and go dual monitor. I got an older ViewSonic PF790 (19") its decent, but not the best... but I like it. I paid around $525 for it quite a while ago so its probably ~400 now.

yea I had a 21 inch (old old generation) a while back on my PC.. Playing Quake 3 on that thing was a bit .... overwhelming.. I get dizzy after 15 min....

I don't mind the lines that much. I used to have a 21" and 17" FD Trini and on the 21" they were barely noticable, the 17" annoyed me though since it was so much smaller :p

I want a couple of 18" LCD's pretty bad. THe apple 22" is pretty amazing too. I haven't seen any other display in person that looked better.

I'm used to the tension lines had em on my 17" and now my 19". Next monitor I upgrade to will probably be an LCD screen. They're still too bling.

No kidding, unless you get a 15" that is

I want a flat screen, but they are so freaking expensive. Maybe in a couple months.

That setup looks nice, I might have to go with two 19'' or one 19'' and one 17'' ;)

I did that for half a year. It's not bad but when you mismatch monitors running different resolutions it screws things up. You have to run the same refresh rates as well, and hopefully the 17 can match the 19. Otherwise you'll get interference and the monitors will shake.

yea I think its more of a concern for PC.. I don't like my 17 with 15 at work, you get use to it after a while... hmmmm its been 4 years of that already....

Evan
07-27-2002, 11:25 PM
Ahhh, good point. Maybe I will just stick with a 19'' and upgrade after. :D

I went from a 14 to 21 almost 4 years ago and DON't regret it for a minute althought it cost me almost 2 grand for the monitor, it's work perfectly since and saved me cash. since i didn't have to go to 17 then 19 then 21. considering it's 4 years now, and 21 is still one of the biggest you can get, I say the best you can afford. be it a 19 or 21, you don't want a cheap 21.

Hey, I was wondering what you need to set up your dual monitors?

I'm sure my video card supports it. I've got two 17" monitors, one's a flat screen and the other one is the normal looking screen.

Do I need some kind of adapter? That has 2 ends to go into the 2 monitors and the other end to go into the tower? If so, where can I purchase one?

that monitor is alright but has not been made for a few years and that is why it is so cheap.

i think that you would be better off with a 955df
