Laptop doesn't stand by no more

Okay so my windows xp laptop doesn't stand by no more.

it goes into standby mode fine but when i open up my laptop it comes back but the screen doesn't turn on -
i can't cntrl alt del

i try to hit the power button -

doesn't work.

anybody have any ideas for me to try?

Re-install windows dude.
I think windows should be reinstalled on every system at least once every 6 months. I do it to my systems.

im lookin at not doin that - since this laptop is still saits laptop.

i could just get it reimaged but im lazy to reinstall my stuff and transfer all my files

hit and hold the power button down for about 10secs. and i guess your other option is to wait till battery runs out and try turning it back on O_o
