Well guys, I wanna see what you other SAIT students do for food for lunch... we all know it's expensive to eat at SAIT, so how do you save money? I usually bring 1-2 cans of coke w/ me to school and then buy 2 hot dogs from the SAITSA store in Burns... $4.49 after taxes... I occasionally bring sandwiches but that was brutal as I suck at making them, and got sick of them after a week. I tried the instant noodles in a cup, but they started charging for hot water (wtf?).

I can't really bring real meals every day or leftovers as.... I never have any!

What do you take to SAIT to eat?

they raised the prices of the donairs. When I was going to SAIT you could get a donair and a pop for $6. Although $7 isn't to bad considering it ways as much as a small baby lol.

actually, if your 18, id say go to the bar, if you want to buy a lunch, its cheap. my lunch today, was 7$ w/ tip. (pasta + ceasar salad). service is a little on the slow side, but good price. Specials are even better deal.

You're lucky you guys are on main campus. At the Aero Centre we got a small shop in the cafeteria that is open to 130PM and it's mediocre. Timmies is a 2 minute drive down McCall though.

Or if you get there early at the heart building cafeteria you can buy a calzone for $3:50  and water for drink lol

The Gate has some decent food, and is totally smoke free (which is nice for guys like me who are allergic to smoke). The Jack Burger was NICE, onion rings a little too battered, but for bar food I would eat there again :D

The Gate is a good place to eat if you have like a 2 hour break. i was there this afternoon and it was packed, took about 25 min to get our food. My friend came and ordered and they lost his bill in the kitchen so they couldn't make his food and the waitress didn't tell us until an hour later.

Went to the gate today with some classmates and it wasnt all that bad.

Took about 15 min for the waitress to greet us, another 5 to bring drinks out(non-alcoholic) and the food came within 5 min after that(so i guess the service was so-so).

Ordered Calamari, Iced Tea and Chicken Ceaser Wrap with fries.

Calamari was really good i was surprised.
Iced Tea tasted like plain water with food coloring in it.
Chicken Ceaser wrap was alright, nothin special, pretty small and the fries were too salty.

I will go again but this time around ill order some type of burger since thats what most bars specialize in.

Sorry to bump a 3 year old thread but, I often eat spaghetti/meat balls from a tupperware thing-a-mabob.

Where can I put it so it stays cool and doesn't go bad really fast?

I only have a short class, noon-5 and i want to eat just before and just after.

Also, where is the closest microwave and water supply to the burns building?
Is there a sink to rinse out dishes when you're done eating?

I worked at the curling club as a cook... I must have had "accidental extra order" wings for lunch for a year straight

Seriously, I worked 20-30 hours a week, and had free suppers when I worked, and always made lunch for the next day too. Saved a huge bundle of cash doing that.

I work 7am-11am
school 12pm-5pm
work 630pm-8:30pm

not much time to take a second job for some free chicken wings, I just need a microwave/fridge/sink.

the deli in the safeway inside northhill mall is the best and cheapest choice

I got sick of spending 9$ a day on sub-par cafeteria food, and I got food poisoning from the gate's chicken lol

Good stuff! I'll be starting my 2nd year of Plumbing at SAIT tomorrow.
During first year I usually ate those breakfast burritos from the cafeteria in the Thomas Riley building, it was like $7 + whatever I drank. I started going to the cafeteria in the Hart Building and just ordered 2 fried eggs with texas toast HAHAH it was like $2-3.50 I think. I don't recall what I ate for lunch, but I'm sure it was more overpriced cafeteria food.

I think there's still a bunch of microwaves and sinks in a little alcove next to the Tim Horton's in Senator Burns building if that's all you need

 Usually I'm the first to catch on to old thread bumps. Why would he bump a thread with a question that has nothing to do with the original question?
