Prelim look - AGF Emerging Markets

Although the TD emerging markets sounds interesting too as well as the Latin America one. Take a look at the mining opportunities fund from Front Street Capital (Frank Mersch and his team are great portfolio managers). Same goes for Vertex One.

I would roll with Patty Perez-Coutts on the AGF EM fund. On a subjective level... I've met her, and her team, a few times and they are extremely bright people with a very diverse international background. Ie, The PM, A. PM, and a couple of the analysts are actually from the countries they are investing in. She's won the EM fund of the year for the past few years... If you look into the risk/reward stats on the fund has performed very well. But don't take a huge position in the fund it should be added to a portfolio beacause of its general negative correlation to north american markets, not a replacement for them.

Actually, with the recent volatility you can probably make an extra buck or two if you play the time zone arbitrage game. This isn’t widely known but – if you’re trading under $50k this particular fund company won’t flag it as a short term trade.

I'm not familiar with the Front Street fund, but I wouldn't narrow myself into a single sector - the EM fund has the ability to adjust sector and country weights.
