So which would u buy the JETTA 1.8T or MERCEDES C230 V4-SuperCharged / V6

Which will cause me less problems down the road?

Also which would you say would be better for tuning
( underthehood) aftermarket support?

my understanding is VW has had a lot of reliability problems over the last 6 years, but Merc isn't much better off.

I would vote for Merc just cause of the name. But I would most likely buy a g35/New altima coupe over those

Either engines for the Merc will have more than enough aftermarket support if it is an 01-02. If you are thinking of an 03+ then get a V6 because parts are hard to find for the 4 banger.
