What does it take for an MR2 to put down 300 whp? Can the stock turbo even accomplish this?

i would really doubt any stock turbo could handle it

300whp?...Its gonna be a big push for a stock C26. They usually
run out of breath at around 250whp.

Upgrading the trim to a 50-1 definately makes it closer..or you can
go the C27 route or C20B.

So a short answer is,
"stock C26 cannot hit 300whp"

You can make a more realistic goal with C26 around the 250whp mark.

Sorry, I should specify that I'm running a GenIII turbo car.

I've got a 255 lph fuel pump waiting to go in, and the car already has:

GReddy SMIC
Intake
Custom exhaust
13psi + manual boost controller (stock boost for the engine).

I've been looking around the there's a ton of information about the GenIII engine, yet no one really talks about power adders outside of massive turbo kits.

I believe the GenIII also already has a ceramic C20B, but I may be mistaken.

The ct20 is out of breath right around 300 rwhp. turn the boost up to 16- 18 psi and get a baseline you should be around 275 rwhp at that point.

The nice thing about the gen 3 is you don't have to touch anything to get close to 300 rwhp.

If you want more than that you are going to get a new turbo

yah just get a new turbo youll be there in no time, your fuel will be able to handle it no prob.

is it possible for mr2's to swap the CT-26 turbo from the MK3 supra onto your engine. I know we did it with my friends 3sGTE in his 90 celica alltrac. I bet u can make it to 300whp with that turbo.

I'm not looking to make anything more than 300 whp (I figure 300 whp will put me at 13.0 flat in the quarter), so would a GT28RS work?

What kind of supporting mods will I need to get there? I already have a decent I/C, and the GenIII has 540cc injectors.

yah a gt28rs will do it, as will a td06, whats nice about the gen 3 is that it can support tons of power even in stock form. Hell Ive heard of bone stock g3s running 12's the car was faster than the supra back when they were both brand new.

LOL nice. Yea, I'm only looking to make 55 more horsepower than the engine came with, and I'm sure the intake/exhaust/IC have added 15 whp or so.

i wouldn't bother with a new turbo if you only want 300 hp. take your car to a dyno and get a baseline, then turn the boost up. You will get very close to 300 with the CT20

the only mods you really should have are intake, 3 inch down pipe, 3 inch exhaust, inter cooler and of course a boost controller. The gen 3 has more than enough fuel to get to 300 safely.

A straight up CT-26 is not going to get you to 300hp no matter what you do.

A CT-20b will get you there as a daily driver but it takes a shat load of supporting mods to do it. I know because I am probably the only person in the city making 300hp on the CT-20b. I am also running 94 octane.

The dancing spud may or may not get you there. The vast majority of dynos you see with it top out around 280hp. I have seen one get to 300 but I don't remember the particulars. But then again I have yet to see some one mate up a GT28-RS with a 3S-GTE that has serious VE mods.

I know ATS Racing has serious doubts about the potential of the GT-28RS and I was at a dyno session not long ago that also had me questioning it's potential. I think it may be just to constipated on the exhaust side.

If you want a daily driver and not have to worry about blowing it up running 20+ psi and having to do a truck load of mods to go with it then you need to go one step further. Either a 46 trim brawler, GT-3071 or maybe some thing out of the Mitsubishi TD line up.

^Mmm K.O street baller kit..

Yah I forgot you are running a GIII engine. You'll get to your 12.0 1/4 in no effort man ;)

Jvillain makes a good point, it really depends on what you want. if you are set on having 300rwhp you are going to be pushing 20 psi on the ct20b. there is nothing wrong with that but you intercooler is going to get very heatsoaked and cause problems if you are boosting for a long time.

You can run 17 psi all day long with the gen 3 with intake dp exhaust and of course a good intercooler. I personally wouldn't be spending the cash on new turbo kit if you are only looking for 300 rwhp. you can get very close with the mods you currently have by just upping the boost. Plus IMO daily driving the car like that is stupid, it eats gas like crazy and isn't necessary around town. What i did was buy an electronic boost controller so you can have a couple programmed boost settings, this way when you are around town and want to drive normal you can have a low boost setting and a high boost setting for the track, drag strip etc.

Well.... I've just picked up a GReddy Profec B electronic boost controller, and the SMIC is more than up to the task I think (Greddy + 3.5" piping).

I'm going to get it tuned so that it runs less rich than it is right now (but still make sure that it's safe). I'm figuring I'll gain 20 whp or so just from the tune.

I got an appointment to have car tuned for a baseline tune on a dyno. No boost increase, just taking advantage of the excess fuel.

When you do a base line you usually do 2 or 3 runs. Do the first the way you are right now and then turn the boost up 2psi and run again and see where you land. If your going to startn knocking it is better to do it on the dyno where it is easier to hear.
