Hey all, i'm trying to find a chinese restaurant for my wedding next year. I will probably need a place that can fit over 300 people.
So far I can think of:
Regency Palace
and Silver Dragon
any other places that are good for that amount of people? (a dance floor would be a bonus too). it has to be a chinese place

The Macleod Trail South Treasure of China?
There's one on the second floor above the TD Canada Trust on Southland drive (used to be like Shank's sports bar or something)
Calgary Court (they have basement seating)
Forbidden City (inside T & T market/ old Frankin Mall in Malbourgh)
China Rose

I'm sure they'll charge you more than an arm and a leg to hold it there though.

We just went to a wedding last weekend at the Regency. 350 people and still lots of room for a dance floor. This was with part of the restraunt closed off just for the wedding.

I believe Regency is probably the only one that can house that many people. Or like others mentioned the restaurant in the cultural center that used the gymnasium on the main level. I know Emperors Palace that used to be there did this quite a few times cause my wife worked there and they didn't charge any extra for it, but I wouldn't know if the new one does it or not, just call around and ask.

Regency FTW. But I might be a bit biased too. ;)

So true. You don't even want to use their washroom if you can hold it.

It's not that bad. At least all the smoked glass is gone now.

Regency, Forbbidden City, Harbour City, Chinese Cultural Centre, Treasures of China (in Chinatown) are common places for Chinese weddings...
Negoitiate the price - ask if you pay in CASH will they waive the GST, etc :)

I don't think Silver Dragon can handle 300+. I tried booking with them and it was in the 250 range only. Regency is still your best bet.
